619BHP At the FLy
515 BHP AT THE WHEELS.

A fair bit faster than most of the cars in this thread ;)
Top speed of 207@9000rpm, 0-60 in 3.56, 0-100 in 7.63. 60-100 in 4.07 :)

although that is quite a fast car, iirc, the stock block horsepower record (in the us, at least) is currently held by enjuku racing (or was it phase2motortrend?) their drag 240's are putting out approximately 530 SAE HP at the rear wheels on the stock block.
for reference, a stock redtop/blacktop s13 sr20det makes 205hp at the crank. |

I don't know the what requirements the US has to make a car road legal, but the only stringent thing a car needs is to past its emissions test. And of course at the time of testing, we always put the cat back in ;). The Exvitermini skyline R33 GTR is not street legal because of its fuelling system and emission system. If it had a cat back in, and could idle properly, it would be a very good match for a lot of the drag orientated US cars mentioned by getfoul. And although it is mainly developed for straight line power, it can handle very well too.
Back to the Boss Mustang. To get 0-60 in 1.9 secs on street tyres is an incredible achievement. What sort of traction control was present, or were the wheels spinning all the way down the line? If the wheels were spinning all the way, and you say it was tested on a proper track, then the handling is going to be close to nothing. Even the nissan 200sx S13 will kick its back end out at 4k revs when boosts hits...and it only has 170bhp as standard. |
the mustang has p335's on the back, street legal tires. No spinning was involved, and it can handle quite nicely.
To keep a US car street legal it takes a bit of holding back. there are a buncha safety things that need to stay on the car, emissions are extremely strict over here, especially in california.
If you want to bring up vids, a honda beat a viper too  but thats one in a million. 8 times outta ten you will see the viper winning. Supras=Dyno Queens, if you deny that last part  I hang out with 500 HP supras that cant even beat a slightly modded 03 cobra on a freeway pull, and get slaughtered in the 1/4, that is if either of them get traction.
When all else fails, just go to your local track, strip or road course, and see what cars are winning. Chances are you will see Z06's finishing ahead of the porsches, and you will see old chevys, dodges, and fords consistantly putting sub 10 second and a few sub 9 second passes and remaining street legal.
ps. dont take anything of what i say personally. I just love american cars. |

in Sweden there is an SR20 putting out 650 at the crank, there is also an S14a in Britain running a 550bhp @ the wheels on an SR20 as well. also i do believe that richie's car hold the record for most powerful CA18DET outside of japan.

P335's on the rear...thats huge. its like the diameter of the wheels on my own car :stongue: nice bit of enginerring work from the Boss tuners! :)
lol i've seen the vids of a couple of civics beating vipers, and of course, they are very rare. and i'm sure you appreciate the work that has gone into them.
As for supra dyno queens, the euro spec supra's were slightly better off than the Jap and US supras, with higher stock power figures, and better brakes, etc. But every supra i've been in has a jap cars best friend...RaceLogic Traction control with Launch control :D i have seen that most US supra owners forget about this, as they think their cars don't need it due to the heavier weight...tut tut. dyno figures are just for show, something to brag to your friends about down at the pub. Although they are fact based and may well be true figures that that car has that power, its still boils down to one thing...the driver. i know for one that i would have a hell of a time controlling any car above 300bhp, as i've only been driving for 3 years, and haven't experienced anything more powerful than my friends S14a.
and cos i'm in the UK we hardly ever see any american cars on the road really :(, they're too expensive, and don't seem to be very popular. although i did see a viper on the road near me once, and there is a american car dealer in a town next to me, that has a few corvettes for sale. the only battles we get are usually between the Cosworths and the jap machinery...always a good watch |

But then again, its not all about speed and handling its about interior too...

^^^Boss Mustang |
that interior is hideous! way too much leather, way too much, and looks kinda cramped, i'm going to look at a 911 with dvd/lcd built into the dashboard this week, which i think would make the interior look way better |

I usually don't like American cars, but saying this interior is hideous is a travesty. This is such a sweet, sexy, and aggressive interior.
And go get your 9/11 w/ dvd, thats such a waste man. Porches were made to perform, not to be 'pimped out' and be mobile entertainment. If you want to put DVD and flashy lights and PS2 in a Caddy, be my guest, but don't ruin a great sportscar. |

my point was that it was pulling those times while running a full interior.
Porsches are not ment to be luxurious :haha: They are ment to go around a track. |

| I'd agree with you until they came out with the Cayenne and now they're even going to make a 4-door 911 :whip: YIKES! |

imo... the Z06 (and maybe the new viper..check out the new 690-hp viper RSI700!)is really the only good american supercar on the market today... the camaro/firebird is dead and mustangs (while good in a straight line) have a platform dating back to the late 70s...
i'd say that chryslers ME 4-12 would help the situation, but we all know thats really a german car to begin with..
guess thats why none of my favorite cars are from the good ol' usa |
