some of you (you know who you are) just post in here and pretty much not anywhere else. do you come here just for the poli forum and do you actually like trance music?

meh just wondering i guess, since i looked at a search of a person's posts and didnt see them post anywhere else and its all in the poli forum, except one post i saw in a local area forum. :wtf:
occrider
I never post in any forum outside of humor, polit, and chill out room. I think you would have to go back about a year before you start finding my posts to the music forum. Posts in the music forum got old about a year ago with the same kind of topics, "What do you think abou this song?" and so on. At any rate, I have access to a friend's ftp site where I can usually dl the latest rips, so I really don't have any need to hear the latest music "news". A song's either good or bad ... is there really that much to discuss?

I primarily post in this forum simply because it's where I started posting when I joined the board(because of the music), and I find it to be a daunting task to get to know new personalities in different rooms. Basically it's a comfort thing, but yeah--I dig trance. I dont't think I'm your typical trance listener though, but then again, how would you describe the typical trance listener?;)
Yoepus
I think this is hands down the best polit forum on the net (though admittedly I can't name another).

I listen to tranceairwaves or digitally imported when taw goes down at work, does that count:conf:

I'm thirty one years old and have been listening electronic music since the age of seventeen. I'm a libra. My favorite color is blue and I enjoy long walks on the beach.;) This is the only forum I post on but lurk other non-political forums.
To be honest though, it's getting harder and harder to find and listen to electronic music I like. I've been out of the scene for quite some time.

I mainly only post here and in the Aussie forum. If I have time, I'll venture into the Music Discussion and Chill Out forums as well, but since I don't listen to trance much any more (I'm going off on a techy, proggy, housey tip) I can't really add much to the discussions there.

I'm too hard pressed for time to follow more than five or six topics at a time, and that generally fits with the political forum top ones.
I listen exclusively to emd (and all the time), but, like occrider, don't find the discussions in the music area as rewarding as those in here. Even if they happen to be about my favourite music.
tathi
my first 300 posts in this forum were in the poli section, and those 300 posts were all the size of essays, now i'm too lazy to post anything longer than this sentence

i found it really hard posting in the australia sub forum until i met the entire sydney crew, now i spend most of my time in tehre

I started out posting in the general forums, but slowly converted to here over time. :p

I'd say that it's about 50/50 now, I still post in Chillout and MD, but I do find myself reading this particular forum a hell of a lot more than I used to.

I too kinda got bored with the music discussion and am starting to get bored with the chillout room also, so that's why I mostly post here. The topics are usually more interesting and people are smarter. I do listen to trance, though, although not as much as I used to.

Nothing you can get more quickly sick of than Music Discussion. Especially nowadays with too many newbs and bandwagon-jumpers whose favourite activity is bashing one of the "star" dj's constantly. The Chillout Room mostly consists of some internet cliques celebrating their relative popularity and exchanging private jokes, or basically senseless "I just farted and it smells like onion" crap-threads. Even my local forum is not like it used to be, but that's mainly due to its explosive development. While we ere a nice intimate group last year, it's a booming 200 members place similiar to Music Discussion.

SO what's left is this place which is surprisingly kept on the same high level with minor fluctuations now and then.

Boo ing hoo. This kind of "everything was so much better in the old days"-moaning is every bit as bad as the everyday TA issue that you describe in your post. If you had actually tried to adapt to the inevitable results of TAs immense growth instead of doing nothing but complaining and burying your head in the sand with this kind of attitude, perhaps you would actually enjoy yourself here instead of getting so worked up.

I see PvD, one of my fav DJs/producers ever, get slated every single day here. So what? There are reasons for this constant slating to ensue (just like it is with Tiesto, which if I'm not mistaken is one of the things that pisses you off most of all) and MD is there to discuss what's going on in the scene atm. PvD's current state is one of those issues, albeit not a very original or creative one. Granted there are lots of people with the infamous "newb"-attitude, but if you are going to tell me that this kind of attitude wasn't around 2 years ago, then you my friend are a dirty rotten liar. As for COR, I agree that it isn't very interesting if you aren't a part of the USTA/CANTA cliques that operate in there, but every now and then there will always be threads that have some kind of interest, you just have to put in some effort to find them.

So frankly, to all those who whine about how TA has gotten, either off or get used to the fact that TA has gotten bigger than Swamper ever had imagined. I'm not saying that TA hasn't taken a turn for the worse, cos it undoubtably has, but instead of being a complete moaner I at least try to make an effort to remedy the situation.
