I've converted my essay to PDF so I can put it up here. I imagine that probably the only people interested in reading it are the ones who aren't already vehemently opposed to the ban - but hey, even if you already support the ban, it has lots of good ammo to fight off the tobacco fanatics who won't stop whining.

Edit: After hunting around I came across some new, more recent sources and decided it needs some major changes, particularly to the section on ventilation and a lot more info on the economic studies. But what's there should suffice for now. :)

Yes, i would go more clubbing after June 1st :D (less smoking smell! ye~)
Anyways I think this will make other cities' people think people in Toronto is enduring and concerning others. :) |

As long as there's a paito and a skybar ... I'll be smoking there and I'll be joining many of my smokin' friends outside of the club also :)
It's like home, I don't like smoking indoors, but outdoors is always much better! |

Yet another thread on this topic.
Apperently the reason why these bans come into effect is that the non-smokers bitch way more than the smokers. The smokers bitch among themselves but the non-smokers actually do something about it. There was a vote done before this law came into effect in Ottawa and the smokers were outvoted like 80 - 20. That's because they didn't really care about this topic as much as the smokers. You only care when it is actually affecting you like it will on June 1.
The major thing that will happen is a crack down in June on the smokers with fines being given all over the place in Toronto. Not only does the person get fined but so does the club. So be ready to be bothered by the bouncers everywhere, they don't want to have to pay the fine and they probably hate the smoke anyways. |

i'll be bringing cigarettes in, but if they get confiscated, i'm not going to try to smoke inside.
they're probably going to be looking at making alot of examples on the first friday night of the new law.

yes it will. there is no smoking in many big cities and it means, no smoking.
you will see clubs arranging in/out for smokers but you are still going to have to wait in line and things like that. |
