Am I the only one that can't stand "Souvenir de Chine ?" (pg. 4)

both of these damn songs have LONG complex synths which don't comprise of just 4 notes repeating over and over again, or just 2 basslines changing the tone of the song. VERY GODDAMN COMPLEX.

Hasn't William Orbit got a little too much credit for Barber's Adagio for Strings? Afterall, it was american classical composer Samuel Barber who wrote the piece in the first place. William Orbit just made a dance tune out of it. He had nothing to do with the "long complex synths". You could probably remember the tune from films such as "Platoon", "The Elephant Man", and "Lorenzo's Oil". It was a symphony before it became a dance tune.
It's still a nice tune though. i have it tucked safely among my other 12 inchs :) |

am I saying "Star 69" is crap cause I don't like it......??
am I saying "My beat" is crap cause I don't like it......??
I don't think so........my point is, you can all say that you don't like it, but you can't say that this song is crap.......since a lot of peeps adore it on this moment
(those 3 examples were just some things that I just didn't like......never said that is was crap.......) |

I totaly agree with you. each person has his/her own taste in music.... you can't argue with someone else about a song you think is crap, while the other thinks it's great..... you just can't decide by yourself if it's a good track or not........ I think it's okay. not more than ok..... I'm gonna play it in my sets cause I know it's a hit track..... but I'm not gonna like it as other tracks that I love. so don't say Souvenir de chine is crap..... you just can't...... |

I don't like souvenir de chine either, It's too "all over the place" and too "busy".
sounds like it was put together just for the sake of "putting it together".
on the other hand, "urban train" by tiesto is a TUNE, no doubt about it, no questions asked, without a doubt a TUNE. |

meh.. its pretty good. but nothing we really havnt heard before. I know what everyone means when they say there really has been a lack of quality these days. I went through shadows site a while back and looked through a bundle of 12" rips.. man such garbage.. theres just nothing to play anymore.
And I agree it is all a matter of taste. I personally hate ferry corstens productions. Gouryella has to be one of the most overrated groups in trance. Come on tenshi and gouryella were no different from this souvenir track. It's all mediocrity... The whole scene now is "lets find a quick hook and market it". If you are going to try and make a cheese hook at least make it catchy. It makes me sad really because I just got into the scene this year.
My feeling about progressive is that people will get board with it fast and hopefully will be looking for something fun again.
just my 2cents...

That's about right and we have to thank The MAN Ferry Corsten for giving us the remixed version, OOH I LOVe THat tUne.. It ROCKs! :):)
As for Souvernir de Chine.. Quite like the Tune.. just turn that volume up!! Blow those Speakers! :D:D:D
