yes, but if you are digging into the annals of a country to prove that previous actions have had a subversive affect on the current-day state...
its not like these people are saying "You have slaves you are bad" its "you had slaves at one point you are bad."
its ludicrous. and just to say that something happened more recently. reall... i mean compare time frames. and then compare where exactly that action occurred on the timeline of growth. A country with a history spanning 10,000 years that had slavery at mark 2,000 wouldnt necessarily be any better than a 100 year old civ that had slavery at mark 20. if you took civ A @ 10,000 and civ B was exactly at the same level of social enlightenment, technology, etc... yet it had slavery as recently as 60 years ago... see where I m going?
So I still think I make a valid point regarding the hypocrisy of such a thing. |

It depends on if you support the idea of slavery. It should never be ok. |

im not debating whether or not its ok. Im saying that to use it as as a negative point against someone else is stupid considering everyone has done it.
before you say it:
Just because everyone has done it does not legitimize the action. Again, im not debating the legitimacy of the action, just the legitimacy of using said action as an argument. |

its the most ridiculous selective memory ive ever seen/heard. People do it all the time in my classes as well. Half the time all I can do is stare and wonder if they are really that stupid. Then I snap out of it and try to embarass them as badly as humanly possible in front of their peers.

bitch and moan all you want, i'd like to have a slave... his name would be Clarence too (like the angel in "It's a Wonderful Life") and I'd be like "Clarence, bring me a hooded sweatshirt (you couldn't say hoodie cuz slaves aren't your friends)" and he'd do it. Then I'd put it on....
He'd light my cigarettes too. Ohh and my slave could spin a mean liveset, so half the time I'm chillin in my room I'd be like "Clarence, for the next thirty minutes I'd like some melodic trance but then bring it into some hard bass PvD " and he'd be like "Hyes Mastah." |
