ugliest cars:
1)pontiac aztek
2) buick rendezvous (what is it about american cars that suck so much, 2 different companies! you would think ford could learn from GMs flop)
3)toyota echo
ummm...i think this is where i rant>>
lets see, coffee can exhaust, no camber kit, that ty bubbly self tint, those ty body kits that are so thin they look like PETE plastic. ok and now this is where i bash the civic haters ;) !
You honestly cant say that hondas are a piece of , especially when you drive and overpriced, expensive to fix, mexican produced VW. Sure you have turbo, sure its a little faster, but i think the entire package of a honda is tight. decent handling, reasonably quick, or at least fun to drive, NOTHING ever breaks, in and out.
as for the hatchs, they are the best looking, you just hate cuz youve never seen a decent one in your life...just cause ty pimped ones are everywhere does NOT mean they are ty cars. and dont start comparing sportscars(mustangs, camaros, etc) to sports sedans, cause it aint the same thing, sure one is cheaper, but thats cause its american and youll get reamed lata. besides my friend is dropping a cammed, headered gsr engine and fully modded suspension into his 91 civic hatch, then it WILL beat mustangs. performace before looks i say. ill get back to this discussion later tho...ha/ |

i think number 1 ugliest is Pontiac Aztek.. I don't care about how it's "the most versatile vehicle on the planet".. it's UGLY. plain and simple.
I also don't like mustangs, civic hatchbacks, etc...
if you mod a car, it has to look good. for me, I don't really care about performance... it's not like you can go more than 60mph on the streets without getting pulled over anyways... unless you're a professional racer or are able to get on a racetrack of some sort.. I choose looks over performance anyday. Sure it's an added bonus to have a fast car, but if it looks nice, then I'll take it. when you add a bodykit to a car, it has to be clean.. no jagged edges or anything sticking out. the 'aggressive' kits get played out to fast since they all look the same and 90% of the cars out there have them on. :) |

I totally agree with u man..I know where your coming from. It is a respectable car, I just have to totally flip out and say how much i hate civics only when i see a home made paint job..20 inch rims..a Supra Spoiler (fwd only get slower if they get a spoiler on the rear)..and all that garbage..and all the performance part stickers..especially when they don't have half those parts.
I'm more into the mechanics of cars, as well as their looks. I enjoy fantasizing of a 20G turbo, or a FmIC...not of a body kit and neon lights underneath the car....guy.
I respect honda civics (only recently i accepted this) because they are really good cars in terms of finances, cheap on gas :)
btw: not all american cars are garbage, the majority is..
but a mustang GT is no slow car man...260hp stock....that'a beast.
i love the purrrrrr of those v8's..as well as the New Corvettes are one of the best rides out there on the road..
they got everything..power, handling..and speed...
if u don't beleive me..whatch speedivision where they put an m3..corvette..and a boxter type s head to head...to head..hehe..guess who won :)(in every category mind u, except tied for 1st in one) |

| The Aztec is by far the ugliest new car I have seen...that thing is a total piece of . The other one that comes to mind is the Plymouth (is that it's name) ? It's an american car that has an old fashioned design. I really hate that car. |

A spoiler doesnt just make fwd cars slower, if you have enough power any car's high speed handling car benefit from downforce, alt not necessarily a supra spoiler, a spoiler will impede ANY car that can't hit over 160 mph, which is a vast majority of the cars that have them.
Oh i dont doubt that there are good american cars, i did point out that i wasnt talking about 'sports cars' which are exactly what you mention...i am simply referring to the that comprises metros, cavaliers and azteks. late/
i would still rather have an rs4 or m3 or m5 than a corvette tho, most likely, there is just something so cool about a sedan that isnt supposed to be that fast tho...:D |

if you haven't noticed yet, i'm an avid dodge/chrysler/plymouth supporter
and as for the topic... i think whoever designed the ford excursion should be shot, and dismembered for making such a monstrosity |

1) why are you singling out VW's? I think only 2-3 of us own them, and we have been the least vocal with the civic-bashing.
2) not all VW's are made in mexico.... it varies depending on model and year. All models produced in Mexico are built with German parts shipped there. Mine happens to be built in Germany. And what does this have to do with the car? The Mexican VW plant was voted #3 in the world in quality, modernization, and worker benefits...
3) Overpriced? pffft! You haven't been checking up on prices recently have you? What's the latest on a Honda S2000? An Accord EX sedan V6 with Leather? exactly.... My 2000 GTI GLX cost the same as a Honda Civic SI out the door... and don't get me started on how many more features my car has than the civic. a 2002 GTI turbo costs just under 19,000. 180 HP, 6 airbags, 6 speeds, and every possible option save leather (which you can get if you want)... They are still selling loaded-up Civics for that price. Same with the Jettas.... You can get a plain-jane Golf 4-door turbo (non GTI) for 17,500!! Thats less than the Civic EX, and it has 180 HP, 6 airbags, ABS standard, and a million other features. To top everything off, why wouldn't they be more expensive? Its a nicer car! Thats like saying "Mercedes are SOOO overpriced! My Kia Sephia costs thousands less...." I was a former car salesman, i know prices... And expensive to fix is a misconception too... Parts are not that expensive, and the included 4 year/50,000 bumper to bumper warranty will remove that anyways! Honda's is one year less...
4) This misconception that Hondas are completely fault-free. Uh, i've been there, and let me tell you, they aren't THAT fault-free. Sure, they RUN without problems, but you know how annoying it is to have a sunroof keep breaking, the tape player eating tapes, the inside of the firewall rusting through after 1 year, and the door handles breaking off? Its fit-and-finish too, my friend. Fact is, every car manufacturer has problems... no car out there is perfect. Another interesting fact: VW is only 4 problems per 100 cars away from Honda. Not a big difference.
5) Fun to drive? That is the reason i went to VW after Honda in the first place: the VW is worlds more fun to drive.
6) As far as the Civic Hatches, i still think they're ugly... and no, i NEVER see those tricked out - just factory, they look ugly... and the new civics are even uglier. The silhouette of the coupe is OK, but the rest: nope. If the hatches were tricked out they might look a little better.
7) I don't recall saying (or hear anyone else saying) that Hondas are just flat-out ty cars (as your words suggested). I would guess from your post that you own one. I don't think they are ty cars. I think they are just not as good as everyone else thinks. I think that some of them are ugly. And i think they are some of the most boring cars out there. If you think driving one is exciting, then you obviously haven't driven too many other cars. The Type R integra is fun to drive, the S2000, so is a modded Civic SI. But that doesn't make them fast and that doesn't change the attitude of the schmuck driving them who thinks he's Mario Andretti.
I am all about how nice cars are STOCK. Sure, you can take any car and slap a $20,000 turbo kit with ridiculous boost and make it fast. But is the car fast, fun to drive, reliable, SAFE, and looking good, and affordable stock. And creature comforts, features, etc... Everyone's free to make their own choices, thats why this is a free market economy. Its just that some people are more uninformed of the facts than others!
