What makes the PT especially bad is that its just a neon inside, that should get those juices flowin'! How bout that power! yeah!
Oh and ABT, lemme guess, you sold VWs right? And comparing VWs to Hondas is NOTHING like comparing a Mercedes to a Kia, thats a pretty lame comparison.
I am not really sure what I was referring to before, plus I am too lazy to check, but VWs generally are more expensive to maintain than Hondas, and for your 'fit and finish' example, Id like to see evidence, especially from somewhere where the roads arent salted. My dad bought a Civic Si in 1989 new, and he still has it, WITH the original clutch at 300k+ miles. Thats impressive, but beyond that nothing has broken or needed to be fixed beyond preventative maintenance and factory recalls (which were prolly about 2). Then again we had a 1990 Passat that broke all the time and cost us an arm and a leg to get fixed too. Ill give you that it was the first ever Passat in America, and things have gotten vastly better for the VW/AUDI camp, but dont knock Hondas, theyve been producing great cars for decades. And while they may cost a bit more, if you do your shopping right you can get something that isnt slow, ugly, stupid or whatever that wont cost you much in the long run...unless you start modifying it with cheap aftermarket ...late/
and the s2000 is only expensive due to rarity, not a price jackup, its still vastly cheaper than a Boxster. |

Don't mean to bash VW's in this story: my neighbour woman, has a 99 GTi Golf...she's had it for a year and a half, and it's basically a piece of . She says everything breaks, she already had to replace the clutch, twice. The windshield is cracked for no reason whatso ever (she says), and the rear hatch lock keeps braking.
Maybe it's just one in a 100 that has the prob..well whatever.
But I do have to say I like the new passats and jettas, because they are part and almost identical to the audi's WURD!
Also, the VW camps should make their own RS4 (family station vagon with more power the a boxter s) version
tsi goes off to watch his video of 'top gear' with RS4 burnouts. |

BTW my mum drives a Honda. Who cares? Don't start a flame about cars being better than another!
No cars are that bad as long as they're not a Lada! |

Yah, my moms Passat had problems with the trunk latch and stuff, but enough of this...TSI is right, if you have a jetta, golf, new beetle, or TT you could do yourself good by putting 4wd, the twin turbo engine(hmmm the RS4 engine would do nicely), and some porsche wheels (cuz theyre pimp), plus all this stuff is BOLT ON! that IS amazing, and I would love to have this opportunity...hehe.
DAMN i need an RS4 this is what id do (assuming i had kids):
Dad: 'KID #1 won't stop kicking me!'
#1: 'Shut up! KID #2 pinched me!'
#2: 'Did not!'
-punching, yelling and biting ensues....solved with a simple downshift>
-yelling and all movement in the back seat stop due to high G forces...
NOTE: i have not put much time into naming my children, as you can see...
One of those racing S4s with the RS4(380bhp+) engine would be especially excellent, only with less cargo space than the wagon (or estate) but ill just keep dreamin...late/
mmm burnouts.... |

Biznology- comparing VWs to Hondas is a lame comparison. They are in two different classes, 2 totally different categories catering to two totally different types of customer. I'm not saying the VW buyer is "better" than a Honda buyer. That would be a stupid thing to say. But, VW is a sporty, german-engineered entry-level luxury car. Honda is an economy car.
You want to see "evidence" from my fit and finish example? Hello? Were you reading? i HAD a civic, and everything i listed was what happened to my car. Now i think since of the two of us, i'm the only one who has owned BOTH Honda and VW that i would have more of an "owner experience" view. My last car (after the civic, before this VW) was a '96 GTI. I put over 90,000 miles on that thing of hard racing, and dragging.... beat the out of it constantly. Never had a problem. Never even lost the tranny.
Whats my point you ask? NOTHING. Who ing cares? I don't give a if so-and-so car NEVER breaks down. Have you been reading this thread? "Ugly Cars". People are allowed to have opinions on what they think is ugly. Look, i know you have a Honda, and nothing is wrong with that. I don't recall anyone attacking Hondas AS CARS. A coulpe people mentioned that they thought some were ugly. But mud-slinging insults back at VW's is lame... AND pathetic. How old are you?
You can say what you want about what you want. Point of the matter is: I've had several problem-free VW's..... I've had a problem-ridden Honda. EVERY CAR MANUFACTURER OUT THERE PRODUCES LEMONS....
If you re-read my long last post, you (and everyone else) will see that i never ONCE said that VW's are better than Hondas.... I was defending the attack on VW's. I did say that VW's were nicer, as is better-equipped. Can't deny that, they have more options and come with more... stuff. I.E.... Honda vs. BMW. Hondas are better than BMW's, but BMW's are nicer. (speaking of attacking German auto-makers, why don't you attack BMW's? Those have the most problems out of ANY German manufacturer, and they are the MOST expensive to repair.... AND there isn't an option you can get on a BMW that you can't get on a VW - minus the V8 engine in the M5)...
But this whole arguement is ridiculous. I was just trying to clear up misconceptions about VW's.... but hey, if you are set in your ways, thats fine. Once again, the facts: VW is only 4 problems per 100 cars behind Honda. The fact that all you guys know someone with a problem VW just goes to show that you know the 4-5 cars that have the problems. I could say the same about Hondas, but i'm not. B/C i really don't care.
Bottom line: I have a VW that has served me well and i love. You have a Honda that has served you well and you Love. I STILL think the civic hatch is ugly, and you can still think VW's are ugly.

Damn right guys, 100% agree on Civics....This drives me crazy when i hear that bzzzz out of 4 inch wide tube on the back, especially when it got blue neon lights all over it, chrome rims, and it is so low that it won't get into my driveway for sure. Suped up Civic is peace of .
It doesn't pull at all.
Another thing, all i hear from genoes is I wanna Civic, I wanna civic..."I ask: How much u wanna spend on it" .....well 25 000. I am just thinking that guy is Idiot!!!! or is he anthraxed!!!!
If i had 25 000, i would buy 8 year old beemer for $5000-7000 put M3 engine in it (i can get one of those for 4000,) Total 11000 for BMW M3.
Well what can i say, the other choise is Chevy Impala SS 94. Corvette Engine in it...... |

well , i must be seven and know nothing! dont worry im not pissed, everyone likes something else its kewl. And dont think im representing the 'pimped' civic owner out there, i am just defending a car that i believe is excellent. i also NEVER said that VWs are ugly - sure thats the title of the thread, but how often does a thread stick to the title, i certainly didnt consider it in >>this(our)<< particular discussion. i ALSO was relating some of my experience with the Passat. you claim that civics fall apart, i claim that VWs do, and as you say companies make lemons, so were both right arent we?!? as for mudslinging VWs, how? You seem to think that my opinion on them is not up yours cuz youve had 3 of them and 1 honda, and my experience is primarily with hondas. i 'bashed' your company, you 'bash' mine. i wouldnt compare honda to BMW just as i thot comparing mercedes to kia is lame- it frankly doesnt make sense. this is a problem in these discussions, i was limiting it to VW/Honda cause whether you consider it an 'entry level luxury-car' or a german semi-luxury econobox- cause without the GTI- thats all a golf is. last time i checked a civic si could be had for 18000 new, and thats several years ago, the GTI is 23gs, now that in itself is not a good comparison. ok im losing my train of thot here...ill jus stop.
>>my thots, i almost nevah judge cars on ugly alone, so maybe i should have never voiced my opinion here. Case in point: I HATED the old Integras (pre-RSX) cuz of the way they looked- butt ugly with those beady little headlights. After getting to drive a 2001 gsr tho, I was sold. My Dad has a 89 Civic Si that looks like balls, but its not a ty car driven by idiots - its a tight package. People think that people who buy Hondas are idiots cuz the cars are 'slow' or 'ugly' or NOT wannabe luxury cars. Honda engineering, some of the best in the world- is simple, straightforward and useful. The package this creates is a completely balanced one in performace, ride, looks, and economy. Most importantly this ALSO has nothing to do with morons who buy cheap aftermarket to make their cars loud, not fast, or ugly...late/
ABT i never meant to single you out as to 'sling mud' in your direction, you were just put up the 'For Sale..' joke making me think you had some serious animosity, sorry man.
Plus I think this is a DOPE Civic:>
