you would be pissed at it.
The movie isnt bad. Most people are critizing it due to its lack of accuracy to the iliad. However the movie is not called "The Iliad" but "Troy" and its just based on Homer's epic, it dosent follow it by the book though.
Helen alone is worth it IMO, very very hot girl |

The message of this story:
Don't fall in love, it only leads to death of loved ones and the fall of nations. |

| Ok, yeah, it sucked. I just went and saw it, and, well, I guess it was better than hanging out around the apt. Problem is the score was awful, and the cinematography was the same as in every other epic movie hollywood makes; nothing original. The only good actor was Peter O'Toole (been around a long time and knows something about acting) but the rest were blando. How come Pitt is always greasy in every movie? Nobody else gets that greasy. They should have concentrated more on the mythological side of the story instead of just alluding to it vaguely from time to time. And the whole thing about the Achille's heel is very important, and they included it but sort of glossed over it... like if you didn't know it was important you wouldn't know it was important. Just another wishy-washy blockbuster. |

| It seemed like it could've been good, but it felt like a TV movie. |

We were having a discussion with Lit majors about how there are no gods in this movie but its a lot better without gods because im an athiest and the Illiad is 3,000 years old there were different god myths back then.
The battle scenes were awesome with brad pitt doing the jump move and theres enough drama so girls will like it
I predict Troy will be the #1 movie this year just like Titanic was #1 |

Yea, it had significantly more potential I think, but they managed to fill the cup only halfway.
But I guess you can look at it as the cup being half full. I just look at it as half empty. |

i enjoyed it.
wouldnt say its a GREAT movie or anything though.
i would say its just as good as gladiator, which was also completly over hyped and did not deserve the best picture win, but was a movie i did enjoy.
yeah the soundtrack was cheezy and annoying.
i'm not too read up on classical mythology (which is pretty sad, considering i was a latin student :p) so i didn't mind the hollywoodizations too much.
i didn't mind brad pitt that much. i found his attempt at being badass entertaining
the fight scenes were very cool. and i like the whole meaninglessness and ridiculousness undertone of war and human greed.
i was very pleased with this movie over all. for the first time in a while i was able to sit through an "epic hollywood blockbuster" style film and not shake my head all the way through. |

| I saw the movie. It was decent but I'm afraid I would not like to imagine myself as achilles...since...well, he's suppose to be gay *in the book*. So yeah, nothing against gays...just not my bag baby. |
