we are pwned by US gas prices.

ffs this is what we are paying

£0.82 per litre.

4 litres per gallon (approx)

= about £3.30 per gallon

at current exchange rate is

at 1.75 dollars per pound

5.775 dollars per gallon! :whip: :whip:

EDIT: those are the cheap prices around my area...the crisis point is £4 pounds a gallon, and its going to get there very soonand that is about 7 dollars a gallon

it was around $1.87 in Colorado a couple days ago...but i think that's just because i know the secret gas station that is a little cheaper...the rest of them seem to be 1.91-1.94

Taking inflation into account, if you compare prices nowadays to the early 80s and even the 50s you'll see that prices are lower today. Besides which, if you compare prices in the U.S. to prices elsewhere, you'll see that our oil prices are much lower, or have been. Plus if you look at the other countries out there, you'll see that they're all going through economic expansions as well, thus increasing the demand for oil. Meanwhile, oil production hasn't taken this into consideration, as it was never forseen that so many other countries would all get an economic boom at the same time.

And people say that the U.S. doesn't fight wars for oil:rolleyes:

I'm not expecting oil prices to come back down ever again, not to what they once were a la 1.10-1.50 a gallon or so, and I don't think you should either.

yeah but you all have tiny tiny cars right. They only hold like 4 gallons, and you can still go 400 miles on a tank.

see we have huge SUVs that are 2.4 lanes wide and hold more gas than a gas tanker. plus they eat up that gas at a rate of 2.3 gallons per mile.

so you decide which is worse.

ignorant generalizations are funny. hehe.

but back to seriousness, gas prices suck everywhere...time to find alternate modes of transportation. I might start a company that specialises in public transportation. hhmmm, I oculd be rich and then buy all the gas I want.

well, i was just watching cnn and they mentioned that someone put it on pres. bushs' attention to call the board of ceos for oil companies to talk to them...and white house pres secretary and secretary of state colin powell said that the presiden is NOT doing such a thing...hmmmm i wonder why

malek
that will not do, destroying Alaska's wildlife to pollute even more this planet is outrageous!!

thats why it was blocked!

right now gaz costs about:

1 C$ / liter here

makes 3.785 C$ / gallon

so its about 2.72 USD a gallon... north of the border.

consider 2$ USD fairly cheap... sell your SUV and get a smaller car...
