LOL never ever turn on the car when the engine is off and let the heat blast! Learn something new everyday.
I hope everyone got in fine and enjoy this event. Just like emery said, never would I expected Mauro Picotto to steal the show like that!
Full review of this event when I wake up ... |

alrites, a more PROPPA review..
The way down was quite the trek.. a heavy downpour was upon the TO this evening so I figured that the turnout for this event would be much smaller than usual, i guess i was right..
The Decor
The Koolhaus was decked out very nicely for this event. A unique array of funky projections against white drapes hanging from the ceiling met us at the entrance. Even had these weird looking ppl standing on podiums posing in strange gestures. very nice touch.. i'm surprised there wasn't move of this type of stuff at Decadence which I felt might have been more suitable.
Strategically placed Absolut liquor booths and a whole lotta B&H girls dressed in gold all around.. i wonder who sponsored this party.. ;)
All other rooms looked like business as usual.
- DJ booth in the Koolhaus was on the regular stage
- Orange Room was the same
- DJs played on the stage of the Guvernment Main Room and not the booth
- All other rooms were closed off for access
The DJs
Alrite, i'm gonna be short and sweet with this.. (in order in which i heard them)
Loco Dice: Totally wasn't what I expected. played a whole mix of stuff from breaky techno to melodic trance?? BigUPS for dropping Hale Bopp tho.. always wanted to hear that live .. :D
All in all, a solid set by the German who definately setup the mood right..
Max Graham
- bumping, hard, energetic, and heavy.. got the crowd going really well into unfortunately..
Way Out West Totally chilled out prog.. breaky at times, but yes very chill.. VERY. This was the type of bump N grind type prog u do with ur sig other.. reminded me a lot of Danny Howells 24/7 album. This isn't to say what they dropped was bad.. but it just didn't seem to go right with the pace of the night. Woulda been more suitable for a chill evening over some Martini rather than an all lazered out Phazon system. Sadly, the main room looked about 1/4 empty.. the most space i've ever seen in that room in my life for an ALL ACCESS event. the Live vocals gets a (+) tho..
Mauro Picotto Wells if ur wondering where the other 1/4 of the Guv were, it wasn't very hard to figure out. MP dropped just about the most mind pounding techno and hard prog i've heard in a while. Comparing this to his last 3 performances I had seen him play in TO, it easily topped. I'd say along the lines of Canada Day 2001. The people tonite were obviously looking for a harder edge sound and the Koolhaus was the place to find it. Needless to say the venue was rammed as people escaped the slumber of the main room. I almost had a difficult time leaving as MP continued relentlessly..
Hybrid Didn't catch too much of their set, but it's safe to assume that whatever they dropped definately helped to wake the mainroom up after the W.O.W.'s ordeal..
Unfortunately I didn't manage to catch any of the locals play and for the time I spent in the Orange Room I didn't get a chance to see who was on, so it wouldn't be fair for me to review these aspects of the night.
The Vibe
Friendlier than normal..
TOTAs made the party as usual..

That was an all-out techno assault that punished my body like it never has been before.
The Lizard Man toyed with us for about a half an hour, then let all techno hell break loose. His sound was hard, pounding and 'full' -it seemed to have many layers, with plenty of mid, high and low-end bass to keep us pumping.
Loco Dice -didn't know about him before, but set the stage perfectly, get the crowd hyped, then pulling back just enough to let the Man do his thing.
I'm kind of annoyed that we didn't get to hear Addy vs. Deko-ze, but Greg Gow made up for it by playing New Order -Blue Monday (?) "How does it feel..."
The party emptied between 6:30 and 7:30, but when I left at 8:15 (!) there was still a nucleus of bumpers and grinders on the floor.
That's the latest I have been out at KH.
Tiesto, you gotta tough act to follow for me. It will be my first love (Trance), but Techno as hard as that has a place in my heart forever.
Spotted/Yakked to: tatgirl, desidel, El Kay Dee, torontobarfly, mot10n, Irish Graham, DJ Eclipze, NeonAlien among others. Sorry if I can't remember on a sketch.
The most tired I have felt leaving a party -hands down! |

Not necessarily safe to make that assumption. They have put me to sleep in the past. Very hit and miss with the hybrid boys, a certain Peter Hook incident story comes to mind. (hah RJ likes that one)
Did Torontotrance hit this party? |

| Good night. Very good party. I listened to MO then a bit of Max Graham, then pretty much the KH for the rest of the night. Shouts to tatgirl, neonalien and desidel. Nice to have met you all. |

Are you telling me that you consider Picotto to be the same techno you listen to?
