its not as much the "keep it clean" factor.. boa is just a classy place where its still fun, where people don't act like idiots like at the guv.

i dont consider any of the TA's (well most of them) as a trance crowd.. people here are more open minded and are well educated about different types of music, and don'y only listen to trance but also other genres outside edm as well.
edit: CIVILIZED.. thats the word i was looking for. |

I'll agree with that. I like some trance I'm just not a huge fan of the crowd. I dunno, maybe it is the whole Guv' mentality. But whatever it is, Boa is doing their thing, and they're doing it right! |

I dont think its the trance crowd but more the fact that the Guv has become a tourist location as much as they dont want to hear that. The crowd is diverse were Boa is still fairly unique and new. With diversity comes a clash in attitudes. I think a club like republik will be able to set a vibe early on and provide what the Guv has lost and Boa doesnt have.

| The only time Guv is a "trance club" is when they book a trance guest. Just like Guvernment becomes a house/tech club when they book danny howells. The rest of the time Mark Oliver plays everything from prog, trance, tribal, techno, house and breaks. To call guv a "trance club" only scratches a small part of the surface in 2004. |

Some clubs look like ass but have average systems and great dj's while some clubs look great but have crappy systems and average dj's, while some clubs look average, have crappy dj's and great systems and some are pretty good in all 3 categories.
From what I hear REPUBLIK will be one of those clubs which are well rounded in all of those categories and that can only be news for Toronto:gsmile: :D |

The only problem with that is, when the guv books a danny howells the vibe of the guv doesn't come anywhere close to matching a system or a boa. Either it's too much of a trance club, or it's too much of a tourist attraction. |

Well I know a few people who are going to end up at REPUBLIK and all of them are pretty nice, friendly people who know the industry/business pretty well so I don't think that it is very likely that they will magically turn into inbetween now and then:eyes: :haha: :stongue:
BOA is an after hours club which only plays dance type of music but REPUBLIK is going to have 3 different rooms and potentially 3 different vibes to play with so you're essentially comparing apples and oranges here. If REPUBLIK was only going to play house, drum and bass and trance then yeah they should scrap any kind of dress code, but that is not going to be the case and hence I don't think that you would want every hip hopper to be walking in with their belt around their knees and bandanas coming out of every pocket. I don't think that they would go with such a strict dress code like THIS IS LONDON does but some sort of style code would make some sense in this case. |
