If you like modern fiction try anything by Chuck Pahlaniuk (author of Fight Club) or Arthur Nersesian(The -up is good... Dog Run is another great one).

And if you don't know about Kurt Vonnegut, definitely check out his writings.

I totally agree. I just read Slaughterhouse-Five for the first time, and it blew my mind.

The four books in Douglas Adams' The Hitchhikers Trilogy are also a very good read.

patriot games
executive order
tom clancy's op center series

it is a pretty good book but not his best. worth a read. out of his latest i prefer "by the light of the moon".

just finished "fury" and "black river" by G M Ford. good books. Ford writes in a style that is in the middle between Michael Connelly and Harlan Coben. anyone who enjoys both of them, would enjoy fury and black river.

i recommend: anything with michael marshall smith, aka michael marshall

plastikE
The Da Vinci Code

and Angel & Demons (both by Dan Brown of course)

bomb reads, especially if you're into conspiracies and adventure
