here is someone who obviously didnt go to majik muzik nite. armin radio show impresses me his livesets are nothing to be impressed about, unless you like sets that are composed of nothing but anthem after anthem, honestly sets like that get old after awhile. thats why i like tiesto he takes you on a journey, by throwing in filler tracks in between the bigger tracks(like anthems). and please, get off this bangwagon "tiesto is a bad mixer" bull, and come up with some original critisism. its simply not true( listen to majik 6 if you want to hear great mixing, he's done it before, buts its more difficult now that trance has changed so much). overall his mixing is clean in his sets. and ive explained this before in previous posts, tiesto style is very diverse he borrows from alot of different genres, hence making the mixing more of a CHALLENGE. unlike pvd who remakes, remixes whatever the term maybe, every tune he plays, making the mixing almost flawless and easy to execute, and that he uses a laptop almost exclusively. hmmm... youve probably noticed that the bassline is the same thru almost his whole set. im not saying that is bad, im just saying it makes the mixing much easier, tiesto could do the samething if he wanted to, but he doesnt want to bore the crowd thru four hours of the same tired bassline. your entitled to your opinion and i'll listen to the arguements that pvd is a better dj than tiesto, but armin?! NIGGA PLEASE! just plain silly. and if you judge how good a dj is simply by mixing your missing the bigger picture. i really believe that tiesto is capable of mixing better than all of them. in the past he was known for his mixing, i just think it is tougher now that his style is so diverse and dynamic. |

um, yeah, what he said :happy2:
Mixing is so overrated anyways, who cares, if he really wanted i'm sure he could just wait till the very end of each song and do a great mix, wow. Just throw down the tracks and get on with it!! I hear him mix out early alot and overlap parts that dont sound so great together, who cares...blah blah...
again, mixing is overrated, tiesto is the greatest. |
jeff
not!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Mattivi, just what I wanted to say, you explained it well.
Yeah, I have heard some of his recent livesets and there are some mixes where the songs dont go well and he just fades them in/out.
But I have also heard some really great in key perfect mixing from him also.
Thats all I have to say about mixing. I like all the DJs anyways :tongue2 :tongue2 |

Well, this is a problem I see with all Tiesto fanatics. They simply refuse to admit his flaws. They think that Tiesto is perfect in all ways. I admit PvD's flaws, such as usage of Final Scratch a.k.a. mixing mp3's and the whole idea behind baseline. Tiesto is far from perfect. I respect the man, but I don't appreciate the aggressive fanbase who will bash anyone, who likes someone else more than Tiesto.
I dunno about live performance, but judging from later sets (I was not talking about magik series, there was a specific reason why I inserted later or current), Armin sets are simply way better than Tiesto's sets. |
