I was there on Magik Musik night @ Space. I have to say Tieso did a great job moving the crowd w/ track selection and because he is Tiesto that's why ppl are going crazy. I had a great time but mixing wise, it really wasn't that great.

If you argue that mixing isn't all that important, what's is point of DJing? Getting the most upfront tracks and just throw it on the CD player/TTs? Anyone could do that if they could get the promos these DJs get

and Diveristy? plz don't tell me PvD and Armin are not diverse in their set

Tiesto definitely had his good times but you really have to admit that he's not as good as he is anymore.

This argument will go on untill the end.........Who is the better DJ...blah blah blah.....Its all about personal opinion.

some interesting responses, i knew there would be some fiery responses, peoples fave djs are like talking politics, very passionate.... but to everybody ive never said that mixing isnt important, it is, im just saying that tiestos mixing is pretty clean most of the time, and yes it is bad sometimes. ive always admitted that technically pvd and even armin to a point are better, but i think tiesto puts together a better OVERALL set, IMHO. and i think some of you blow his mixing shortcomings WAY out of proportion. and yes i miss the old tiesto of the majik days, but hey, the sound has changed, and i really like his new sound too and the direction he is going, i guess we will have to stay tuned....

scottaculous: you obviously have far greater knowledge on the art of djing than anyone in this forum. your responses have been very educational. i would still argue that having the same bassline has to make his sets run more smoother and more cohesively, but hey im not going to beat a dead horse. but thanks for seminar on the equipment and terminology, etc, very interesting.

ex-dj: please dont compare oakie to tiesto.. tiesto luvs what he does, oakie doesnt. i lost a lot of respect for him at ultra, with the whole puffy fiasco, and he walked out in THE MIDDLE of a set a friend of mine was at in TAMPA, because he said in his words "i wasnt feelin it man". NUFF SAID. and i think oakies mixing is far worse than tiesto. but i will always love his essential mixes, he got me into trance, hes just not what he once was..

3xxr7: hey i dont mean to come off defensive, it just peeves me when people make wanker comments" its like he's taking a piss on vinyl" and gross exagerations" armin is way better". its like comparing kobe and tmac, there both great, ones not way better than the other, they both have there goods and bads. lets just agree to disagree, your entitled to your opinion, im just sick of all this about tiestos mixing.

peace everyone.

OMFGGG Tiesto dramaaa.. a DJ becomes famous and everyone just has to piss all over the guys name. Im glad I dont have a favorite DJ.. I can recall though Dj's that stand out in a moment.. but to be my #1 forever kiss ass DJ lover na.. Armin and Tiesto were both in the epitome of quality trance and releases back in the days.. the only difference is that one of them had the luck and the the productions to concour the English, leading the open doors to the rest of the world.. and one of the more complex.. the US. And there is a reason for that.... Tiesto was one of the FEW trance DJ's that stucked to the name calling TRANCE in times that trance dj's felt embarresed to be labeled as such, for foreseen a rejection fromt he people, in times that people preferred the Progressive Sounds ( therefore making Sasha & Digweed #1 in DJmag ).. yes, Tiesto was the man who forholded the spot and persisted on the sound of trance.. I've seen, heard tiesto from the very beginning.. since he's first big gig ( innecity )... Ive seen Armin, Ferry and all the others come up to their names and flourish.. Ive seen the downfall of Oakey for very obvious reasons.. where Im I heading. Well, Im saying that each DJ has it's flaws, ups and downs, their epitomes.. their downfalls, and risings.

I remember the times when people were all for the music and supported any DJ that stood to the music we all like.. but now that this DJ's are all famous now, it's becoming a pretty much funny politics.

As much as an ass that Oakenfold has become lately, he has my respect for what he has done. And Tiesto.. come on, the dude can rock a crowd, can rule a night. Same goes for PvD, but like I said, they ALL have ups and downs, what DJ doesn't. If I were to talk good DJ sets last year.. I would have said PvD.. this year I say Tiesto and Armin..and for the underrated.. Markus Schulz. But like I said, every DJ has the downs, none is perfect. The only one I could say was perfect for a time.. was Oakenfold in 99-00. I could add to that PvD and Tiesto as well if you listen to their mixes and releases ( Magyk series and Vorsprug Vandit << is that how u spell? ) ..

Hehe.. but Oh well people, keep on pissing on the man, all I gotta say and remind is that he was the DJ that actually fought the sounds in a time that everyone thought that trance was .. DEAD. And look at him now. Hehe .. Makes me grin and laugh.
