low carb diet?? (pg. 2)

look up legumes and how to make a complete protein on google. There are lots of combinations between lentils ad beans, sprouts etc. Upping your dairy intake isnt really advised either.

the main thing is this: dont go on a 20 minute run (even if you cover 3 miles) and think youve accomplished something. all you did was burn about 2-300 calories. Thats it. Try being active all day long. Go to a park, lift some weights, go rock climbing, go for a swim. do something ALL DAY LONG and burn like 2000 calories. Why make yourself miserable with diets?

Just have a lifestyle that produces the body type you want.

Orbax, the books that I read about marathoning and diet say that roughly you burn 100 calories for every mile you jog (depending how hard you run). My problem is I have to eat more now to maintain my weight because I am burning 300-500 calories a day.

The Atkins diet works now but most doctors say that you will see the problems that it causes in a few years. I'm in the same boat as Orbax, I'm not a fan of supplements. I lost 53 pounds due to jogging and the right diet, so it can be done easily.

And how are Orbax and Andy on this fine day? :toocool:

To stay on topic...

My carb intake is low.

I don't eat red meat (or pork). I don't eat fast food.

I do eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

I've lost six pounds recently...all due to stress. :sadgreen:

If you are really overweight, change your diet and exercise (does not show results for a while, even tho you are losing weight) but 8 months in, the results speak for themselves.

I rarely eat fast food (I call it FAT FOOD)
I rarely drink alcohol (talk to mizzuno about my life when I drank)
I don't drink pop or soda anymore, I drink just water...tho if you want to gain weight...drinking lots of pop has been proven to add to your caloric intake.
I eat meat and that was one thing that I never wanted to get rid of.
sorry but I am a human (highest chain on the food chain)
Chips and candy are a huge source of calories

Everyone on here knows that I don't drink (anymore).

I don't eat snacks like chips and candy.

I do drink soft drinks...just in moderation.

I just had a new employee say that everyone eats so healthy in the office that it is starting to rub off on him. ;)

all I'm looking forward to is 42km 26 miles

If you're obese then I think most diets will help you shed huge amounts of weight in a hurry. There is science behind the atkins diet, but you really do have to make sure you consume a negligible amount of carbs; deviating even a little will throw the entire diet off.

If you only have 5-10 lbs you want to lose, then just do 30 minutes of cardio a day and try to eat right. I need to shed 5lbs for summer, so I think I'll be cutting out beer for the most part (the bane of my existence, probably makes up 20% of my weekly caloric intake =P) this month.

Is marathon a different meaning in Canada? Marathons are 26 miles long because thats how far a messenger had to run to deliver a message.

Most people eat somewhere between 3-5 THOUSAND calories a day.

which probably wouldnt be that bad if it were say, broccoli calories.

but probably 40% of that is fat and another 30 carbs and 20 protein. its ed up. The dairy triangle is the most annoying piece of propaganda ever, but everyone believes in it. Eggs and milk for breakfast? and bacon?! holy , no wonder youre fat. Have an apple, a banana, and a bagel with some turkey on it. wash it down with water or tea.

heres what I ate yesterday

an apple for breakfast at 8 am. then I had a bagel with 5 slices of turkey on it and a green bell pepper. Then I at some fruit an hour later or so. For dinner at 6 i had 1 99% fat free chicken breast with some mushrooms and steamed broccoli over half a cup of rice.

thats been my generic meal plan for the last week and a half and ive lost 4 lbs now....in a week and a half. I guarantee I could lose 20 lbs in a month. Ive done it before.

The point is not only eat quality (which can still be delicious) but get a new exercise. Its called "Pushing yourself away from the table". QUIT EATIN SO MUCH!!!!

Most diets kick you into starvation mode, make you lose muscle instead of fat, and as soon as you break (fat people are fat because they wont stop eating food) and start eating all their favorite creams and chocolates they didnt get on their diet they balloon up even heavier.

Most people dont understand Atkins. Protein is HARD ON YOUR BODY. You should take 3-4 protein shakes a day for a year. s up your liver and heart like WWU said. 1 a day, fine, massive, bad. And carbs serve a very noble function in your body of providing real time energy instead of having to metabolize existing body parts.

Atkins diet should last 2 months max and the main purpose of it is to kick you from your sugar and carb addiction. Most people think that carbs are evil and you shouldnt have them. You should have a good in amount, you just shouldnt have them be 80% of your diet like most fat ass dips think you should.

"Ohhh I want to stop being fat, but im not going to read one god damn book on how my body works or the science behind stuff."

When I was weight training daily I was trying to consume 5-6000 calories a day, but it was okay since I was burning off so much. When I wanted to shed 10lbs of flab about 6 months later, I went on a diet similar to the one Orbax recommended and did 20-30 minutes of cardio between 7-12 times a week. I lost 10lbs in a month, and another 5 lbs in the next month despite going back to regular meals and regular workouts. It really is pretty easy to do, just gotta get yourself into the mindset that you're hitting the gym every day and eating well at every meal, without exception.

One trick to eating less is to eat slower. Personally I can plow through a meal in a couple of minutes, and your metabolism will still be roaring at that point which will lead you to think you're still really hungry. However, if you stop for 20 minutes you'll find that you'll be full, without needing anymore food. Try to either take your time while eating, or force yourself to stop after your first serving.
