I think the fact that Johan was still so into it, lots of crowd interaction, always smiling etc... despite the fact that he doesn't have a huge crowd says alot about his professionalism. He truly played for his fans (or at least the true fans of trance music).
Overall, his mixing IMHO is "meh." No obvious trainwrecks to me, but nothing spectacular. I think (as alot of others seem to do), that his talent or forte really lies in his production skills. Think about how many classic tracks and timeless trance anthems bear the "geilen" or Airscape name!
What a crowd difference compared to the Guv! Seemed like a lot of younger people, but everyone seemed really cool. Great to meet you NRG2infinit, I've seen you on these boards for quite a while but now I'll recognize you at parties! I was also glad to bump into Maxtuh. I came with Boytrance and we arrived shortly after 12.
Call me an audiophile, but I wasn't that fond of the sound that night. I like to hear Crisp mids and highs and CLEAR basslines.
Free beers! Can I say any more! I got two free cans of blue, 12 dollars admission, great lights and tons of room to dance, not very hot in there either. All in all a great party!
I'll be going back to the docks for sure . |

Good to see you too! Had also not been to the Docks for many years, it's quite nice inside, might become my new Friday hangout.
I agree they should've let him play longer, cutting off Just Be was poor form.
Send me those photos you took! :D
Looking forward to seeing Johan at WEMF too, I'm sure I'll see you there :)

...did any1 else find that they had the bass way too cranked???
I hate not being able to make out the music b/c of the insane amounts of bass. |

| i agree...the sound system is good, but isn't properly tweaked yet...the bass was overpowering and sounded a bit mushy...but it wasn't so terrible that it ruined my time or anything...i had a great nite! |

Gielen spun a incredible set, even with a small crowd like that he still got into it!! I agree the sound was good but improperly tweaked too much on the treble couldn't make out the vocals to the choons. The set up @ the docks was never my favorite with the deejay booth so high up but the atmosphere is better than guv(can't stand guv security) the vibe and peeps there weas very cool!!

anybody know what tune that was when he was standing on the balcony!! that was a killer choon :eyes:

i agree about guv that the security are s...they always push through you like they're the , and when i ask them something, they give me a sarcastic answer? like what the ? i don't get some of these ppl that think they're so above everyone else...other then that though, i love guv, i love having all the rooms and the layout is nice...the docks is definately going to give it some competition now!!! (well maybe not since the docks main night is going to be friday) |
