As for Atheism well thats just a crock ... to believe no matter what it is , means so much more than to just not believe because its easier .

atheism doesn't mean people dont believe just because its easier...it means they dont believe just because they dont believe in it. my belief is the world is influenced by natural forces and human behaviour...not god. thats my belief and its not a crock, IMHO. peace

this is something the frustrates me, and not only when it comes to religion. for god's sake (excuse the pun) when it comes to matters like these please dont take it becuase someone told you so... go out re-search the topic, learn all you can, soul search, and then come to a conclusion. then i have full respect to whatever you belive in. but not when someone told you too. if god told you that you would go to heaven by being a mortyr for your religion by killing innoccents would you do it?

i dont believe, cuz i find most religions to be shortminded, ignorant and indoctrinating, they make ppl do the weirdest things (not aiming at the attacks, but more at the middle ages, in which the christians did some pretty sick stuff), other than that, i feel u just need religions if ur not confident of urself enough, if ur self confident enough, u can live without a religion, like i do

that about sums it up, dont feel like posting a long, long story like some others, although i do have one...

God was invented by man. You always here that there can be only one god, why is that. If there was a good, wouldn't he had to have been created, or wouldn't there be lots of gods. Afterall he'd be a really bored being if he had no friends.

There are too many flaws in believing in God, I've read the bible (old testament), studied religious history etc... And all I see is things pointing to a conclusion I made when I stopped believing, that God is an answer to mankinds need for answers and for their fear of immortality.

If you believe, thats cool with me. I just ask that you keep an open mind, I always keep the option open that I may be wrong, although that option is like .01% ;)

The universe is full of mystery, I chose to believe that our small minds of humans can't concieve of the amazing things out there for us to discover. God is a simple solution to many human wants and needs. I have no need or want, I try to follow a bhuddist way of thinking.

ok, I know that some people have stronger faith in thier God than other people, but you can't blame me for the way I feel right? This is just the feeling I have....sorry if I offended you... :)

and as for what Izzy said: I think he (Izzy) is totally right that you should not believe in a God just because your family does! Do, as Izzy says, some research and try to fuind out why you want to believe this!

And, last but not least, I think it's unfair that you call atheists people that don't believe because it's easier, cuz if you had really read my post you would've known that I did not do it the easy way...I hope you can try to understand that :)

Bye all :p

I went to a Church of England school when I lived in London which meant I had to go to church about twice a week. I also went to Sunday school for a while. I don't think I ever really believed in any of it though. I like to think there's a reason for everything that happens, and that the cause can be identified and studied and that we are ultimatly become masters of our own destiny.

The other thing that bothers me about organised religion is that at the end of day people aren't following their own beliefs, but a set of "rules" about what to believe and what not to. It's like "hey, my beliefs match your religion entirely. Fancy that.".

Anyway saying that, my grandmother died recently and I like to think that she's still around somewhere looking on me. So it's hard to explain my position. I guess the rational part of me knows the truth, but there's a part of me that keeps open minded.

I'm a catholic. I have my reasons :D:D:D From what I've read so far, people are saying "I dont believe in God because he would be bored in the beginning, had no friends" "Man creates their own destiny"....well ya, I believe man creates their own destiny because God ALLOWS them too. Also, people are saying "if there was a god, then why did the terrorist thing happen?" well, there's also Satan (in my religion) who opposes God, so I believe the terrorist act was a work of Satan. It's not like God said "HEY!!! BOMB THE WORLD TRADE CENTER AND I WONT GIVE A RATS ASS!! HAHA!"" There's a constant battle between good and evil on earth (from my religion) and as it turns out evil caused this terrorist attack to be won. And about that "God would've been bored cause he has no friends" post.....I doubt God has the 'exact' same feelings we do. It's kind of ridiculous saying "God" was bored cause he had no friends....hmmmm lol. But ya, sorry if I offended anyone, didn't mean to. to each his/her own.

Wow...I try not to advertise my religious beliefs (or lack thereof) because of obvious reasons. I don't want to be thought of differently by people who do not share my views. I'm surprised there are so many people here who think similarly to myself.

Essentially, I am an athiest. Yet, I'm baptised. I'm confirmed. When I get married (IF) then it will most likely be in a catholic church. However I find far too many discrepencies with the church and other religions. Events happened to me in my life which caused me to somewhat "abandon" what I previously beleived.

Where I work, a chunk of the employee's are "born again" christians who describe themselves as "saved". I constantly receive "sermons" from them, I was even invited to their church, which I politely declined. Although what they say makes sense sometimes, I DO find it hard ot beleive things I haven't seen/felt. When I communicated this to one he said to me, "you beleive in the wind yet you haven't seen it."

I said true, but I feel the wind. I don't feel the prescence of a god. If your interested in some really wierd stuff which I don't entirely beleive/condone BUT it makes some sense, check out http://www.williamcooper.com . I hope we are allowed to post websites, if not then my apologies. It is somewhat unnerving to be told by someone that if you aren't "saved" then you go to "Hell". According to near death experience story he heard from a gentlemen in new zealand who experienced hell, its nothing but darkess. You, alone, no body, in darkness. No sound except the devil who taunts you. Somewhat scary, but is it true??

It is difficult to beleive something you haven't seen but thats why they call it faith. I guess I am faithless.

Peace.

I dont believe in (a) God. This is one of my reasons:

believe that religion is something that people made up for themselves to help them in bad times and to keep their hope strong. I think you can see that because people always believe stronger whenever they don't have all the good things in life (in wartimes, in hunger, in sickness...u name it)..and when they're happy...the churches are getting empty!

Also, I "believe" in the evolution theory. IMHO you either believe in it or not. But you cannot believe in the evolution theory AND in God.

well i dunno what to say about this one. faith is good. always good to have faith. but i cant say that i believe in him as much as others. as a kid i wasn't scared into a religion where you are tought never to question god. I do all the time but I still have faith. So Im sorry to put a boring post but thats the way i feel confused.

I've been raised a Catholic my whole entire life, raised in the way of throwing bricks at Protestants j/k, but I'm not religous really at all, I'd probably burn if I walked into a church, I believe these days people take religion just too seriously, it causes wars, arguements and hatred and most of its all over some ing stupid book someone wrote, or because someone dosen't worship this god and so on, I sit on the fence with my view on weather there is such thing as god, I'm an open minded person, but evidence is needed for me to believe weather there is such thing, and that won't happen till I die who knows there may be a tunnnel with light at the end, or I might lie in a coffin and rot

I think Vin Diesel said it best in Pitch Black "I never said i didn't believe in god. i frankly just don't give a F==k about him"

I do feel that there is god and such, but there is so many things in this world, and things happening to me that makes me feel, why believe in something which abandons us everytime we need a miracle, but is always willing to give us torment. Sometimes i believe that damn, we are in somekind of video game like The Sims and God just feels that certains occupants of his earth, it's fun to mess up their lives.
nothing fun about being alone @ school, or being too scared to make friends, or be the outcast of every social class available. not fun having a sister with Down Syndrome and knowing that her life wasn't as "blessed" as mine and in the future will just ammount to staying @ home playing barbies or whatever. Not having periods of times where thoughts of suicide are lurking every hour. i hate this. And as much as it was stressed in the first post, i do have to say "f=ck god." there is a real god, and he wants ALL your praise, even though he gives nothing in return.
and yes, i do burn down buildings in The Sims just because it's fun to mess with the digital beings.
