isnt that a $590 vid card? u know somewhere, or ive got cards mixed up?

could be second-hand.

or maybe he's mixing up the 9800XT with a 9800 Pro or a 9600XT (albeit an expensive one).
gumble
would u reckon its better to buy a mid range card - say a 9600xt and upgrade it in a year or so, or go for a high end - 9800xt / x800 pro and have it for a couple to a few?

video cards seem to still be changing heaps...

best value for money card has to be the nvidia 6800 gt....it's basically a detuned 6800 ultra and also is a single pci slot whereas 6800 ultra is twin. Also, you can overclock the GT to Ultra speeds, so theoretically, you save yourself a few hundred dollars at best. Power consumption is way better than the ultra that requires two power connectors to keeping it humming and 450W power supply:eek:

X800 pro is great although, I hear that it's merely a fill-in model for something more extroadinary. Either way you'd be guaranteed a couple years of awesome gaming! :D
Hybrid Junkie
whoops, meant 9800 pro. :p

looks like we are looking at around same price range...

what you think about x600 xt for around $400?

would the 9800 pro be better than that?
pkcRAISTLIN
PC Powerplay gave it 96%, saying it was the best single-player FPS ever, and head and shoulders above anything else we've seen this year.

so, looking good!
gumble
can u make a call like that before its had a few years run?
G`Dave
It may score well on reviews... but what I really wanna know is how long its gonna last.

Will be be around forever (like half-life for example) or will they just be using the engine a good while into the future? Will everyone just drop it and forget about it when Half-Life 2 (eventually :( ) comes out?

Or will it be another hyped up supposedly great game.. that's forgotten in 2 months?
gumble
name one iD game thats been forgotten in 2 months :p

well, if u answer that, then u still remember it, it hasnt been forgotten.

Sig change time!
