Road trip to MTL (pg. 4)

Here's a sample of a cost breakdown if we were to do this. Here are the assumptions first (based on groups of 4 ppl):

Car rental - 4 days (Friday to Tuesday b/c Enterprise is not open weekends + Holiday Monday) We'd come back for Monday but you have to return the car the next business day due to the Holiday.
You get 200 free kms per day, hence 4 days = 800 kms... Additional kms are $0.25/km. Factor in gas too.

Accommodation - Days Inn Downtown (Blvd. René-Levesque), 2 double beds, 4 to a room for 3 days

Ford Taurus (relatively roomy) = $37.59 per day ($221.22) + extra kms (roughly 200+ km = $35) + gas ($80)
= $336.22 [TOTAL] but split by 4 ppl = approx $85/person for the entire trip.

Days Inn = $157.50/night x 3 nights (Fri - Mon)
= $472.50 [TOTAL] but split by 4 ppl = approx $120/person for the entire trip.

Ticket to CREAM = $75

So essentially, it's $85 + $120 + $75 + fun money = $280+ for 3 days and 1 incredible PARTY... That is very reasonable considering the circumstances.

Obviously, there are cheaper alternatives like the Econo Lodge on St. Dominique or even a Motel (COLIBRI!!! Remember that, Sly_Guy???). As you can see, most of the cost is staying in a Hotel.

This plan works with 5 people and whatever but I used 4 as an example. Remember, you can take a plane, train or bus if you aren't able to rent a car... But by far, a car is the most economical [Compare with my previous post regarding this].

Oh yes, as for renting a vehicle, these are the rules of Enterprise:
∙ You can be 18+, but if you're under 25, they'll have an additional charge of like $20
∙ For a van, you have to be over 25
∙ You must be insured on an existing vehicle
∙ G license preferred, they'll prolly charge more for a G2
∙ You must have a major credit card in your name (not sure if it can be cosigned with another person?)
∙ Check their website, www.Enterprise.com or another rental company

EDIT - Holy Geez, didn't even see Floorwhore's thing about $25 for Nouveau at the beginning of this thread... Yeah, that'll slash $100 of the total cost then! i.e. It'll cost like $200!!!

Ok so we've confirmed a few things here. Groups of four makes the most sense for both travel and hotels. Im in the process of looking into getting advance tickets for Dave Clarke & Cream, and id like to start getting a count of how many for each we need.
The Highroller
I think if we want to make sure nothing goes wrong, we should set a deadline for everyone wanting to be in our group.

If other people want to wait a bit longer, that's cool, but everyone who waited past the deadline has to plan amongst themselves.

What do you guys think is a good date?

Jeff, you put newr down twice btw :p
Chinaman
A deadline date is a very good idea. I believe you will be able to rent a car a few days before you actually travel (getting the paperwork and such in order).

What will probably fill up the fastest is booking your room at Nouveau or anywhere else. It is a long weekend so don't count on being able to find a cheap hotel where you want UNLESS you book far in advance.

Why not TENTATIVELY set the deadline date as of August 9th? Since Howells/Tong will be @ the Guv on the 7th, most of us will probably go. This way, people can ask us questions and whatever in person?

Maybe this is too early, what do you think Graham and Jeff?
The Highroller
Too early? Nah man, that's a little later than what I was hoping, but that's okay. We can do that.

That weekend we should try to book the hotel.
