Was your first love Progressive? (pg. 3)

| Started with Trance.....got on this web site learned some more about the music and started getting different genres. then i came to a point where i would listen to alllllll forms of Electronica. now and ONLY now do i understand the gods that are John Digweed and Sasha. Prog does own!! |

| I definitely started with all trance and slowly started to like proggy. I then started with some breaks and some hard house and hard trance. Now I like playing all of the styles, depending on my venue and my time slot. If I know I am playing between progressive acts I will probably start and end proggy, with some builds and drops inside the set, including slower trance(usually older trance). I think it is ironic how trance was, generally, slower a few years back. I think everyone should respect all of the styles. Even the styles I do not enjoy, I respect. And a good dj can make the music better. |

| I started with mostly real trance, with a little bit of cheese. Now I like a lot of different trance, psy, hard, etc. I really can't get into most "progressive" tracks. I can't see myself ever getting into it either, mostly because i like so many different kinds of music that all sound better than "progressive" to me. To each his own though |

| I wonder if some of the nay-sayer prog haters would enjoy any forms of progressive at all? I get bored of minimal repetitive sets of progressive too. But if a dj plays the right tracks and builds and drops within the set, it can be amazing. Trance is the same way. I love a programmed set like Armin or Tiesto would play, but hate the types of boring repetitive sets George Acosta or Jon Bishop would play. Even PVD is getting boring. Every time he is live, he plays the same 6 tracks of Reflections and a few more older tracks from Out There and Back then a few new ones. He is playing here next weekend and I hope for a set like the one I saw him play three years ago on New Year's. We shall see... |

most ozgur can (even the track in my sig lol)
the vocal mix of elevation - clear blue
basically most the stuff markus plays and the prog armin plays
this is pretty rough.. there isn't a clear definition of what it is. basically just sounds a bit "cheaper", doesn't sound as real as old and deeper prog. i'll admit to liking it and listening to it a lot |

I assume that is a rip on Debo. Last time I saw him, he was great. If you dislike Luke Chable and Hernan Cattaneo's style progressive, then you are bound to dislike that, but I didn't hear any cheap or ultra cheesy vocally stuff(which don't get me wrong, I love vocals, just not cheesy ones). So now I am confused, because I have heard Debo's style and Gabriel and Dresden(motorcycle, and Andain) referenced as bog-prog and the two are way different. |

There was even a stage when I disliked prog. [2001?] which was a time where I loved full blown uplifting trance. But indeed, as my musical tastes grew, I started to go off onto other genres. Now I simply adore melodic prog. or the so called "McProg" [I think?] hehe
Stuff from artists like; Subsky, Yunus, Benz & MD, Flash Brothers, Blue Haze, Andy Moor and prog. breaks like; Infusion, Nubreed, Way Out West, Grayarea, Luke Chable, Chris Salt etc.
It's actually my preffered Djing genre right about now.
And I can just see a glimpse of me heading towards tech-house, techno, and a bit of tech-trance :wtf: |

| man, talk about variety and changes, right now I'm still listening to trance yet at the same time I am being torn apart by prog and psy/GOA, my soft side is going into prog and my evil dimented side is pulling me into psy. |

I disagree. Debo's style is anything but BSPF, and his essential mix can easily prove that.
I think the current state of Progressive is very healthy thanks to all the talented new comers and veterans such as WOW, Habersham, Sasha, Quivver, Rowan Blades, Dousk, Dekay, and much more. |
