no.. it means that making these meaningless posts wont count for anything on ur post count, thus the post count being more of a guide to how much they actually post about music on this music site :)

i only like to know just how much i have posted, so moving the count to the profile is a cool idear

Yeah, maybe moving it to the profile is a better idea but I don't think that it should be completely deleted. I think the post count shows how dedicated one is to the forums, it also makes people feel like they belong here when they get to X amount of posts and are congratulated (I know I was happy when I reached certain points like 400 & 1000 posts). If Swamper is considering doing this I suggest that there be a poll...

well I guess it would be better if posts would be in the profile. I mean why the hell should this be the "rank" of how much of an "ADDICT" U R.

so I ask Swamper: "please, hide the post count in the profile. it would be better for all of us!"
KaNoS
Remove post counts. Even from profile, they are useless

And if u want to keep the ranking system, just try to do it for time
ie> 2 weeks=trance addict in training
1 month= tranceaddict
2 months = senior tranceaddict
3 months = supreme tranceaddict
4 months = allow to change title

its even more fair, cause many people like me, would like to change their titles, but we dont post that much, but we do have some time here posting

or just remove titles too, no ranks

well, personally i couldn't care less about my post count. i never judged people or wanted to be judged on that. but now that posts in the c.o.r. dont count for your post count, its a more accurate measure of how much you have contributed to the music sections of the forum. so i think it should stay unless this problem still persists in other sections of the forum. its not a perfect measure, but imo its better than time as a measure, cos someone could make 1 post in the music discussion and come back 3 months later and be a supreme tranceaddict. not that status really matters that much in the scheme of things either(i say that now that mine is custom... ;) ). not a big deal if it gets moved to your profile either i guess.
out of sight...out of mind

Excellent idea Swamper post count is and always has been irrelevant. In fact I think moving post counts to a member's profile is a good idea. That way it is less of a status symbol but you can still check it for your own curiosity. Much like how I can check out my anemic posting rate :D

I dont think we should disable post count at all....

The chill out room was a good idea but dont move it to the Profile....

When ive done i post i feel that i have acomplished something and that my post count get higher...it maked me feel motivated......
Its also interesting to see if somone that does a post has been here for long or if he\she is just a new registred...im not saying that the post count counts your music knowledge at all...but it show for how long youve been here and if you are really interested.....since (from now on) you only get posts by discussing music it will get more reliable.....cause you always learn stuff by discussing in the music forum, unknown trax, dj forum etc. etc.....When you have 1000 posts you will know alot......

If you take away the post count people will get unmotivated.....

I think this is a terrible idea. I always like to see how many posts I've done.

Yes I don't know. I liked the idea of posts, but the new system is much nicer, so it is a good idea. I say remove those post accounts. What does it mean now???

I disagree, I don't think that was the intention at all. It was just a bit of fun. I think the only people that were bugged by it were the people who think that post counts matter.

But anyway, taking you as an example, you could have 200 posts and it wouldn't change my opinion of you one bit. You're one of the guys on the forum I respect the most, because you know your stuff and you're always more than willing to help people out and share your knowledge and music. You're a true tranceaddict :) Anyway my point is, no post count, ranking system or VIP access is going to make me think otherwise. I don't care if has more posts than you. As the saying goes, it's actions and not words that matter. I think we're all more than capable of deciding for ourselves who we respect, nobody needs any kind of ranking system.

What I don't like is being made to feel like I'm a second-class member of the board because I don't have access to the latest tunes and can't answer everybody's questions.
