you are setting yourself up for a major letdown. when does this start up...hopefully soon because the olympics is almost over |

major letdown? And who's going to beat us? The USA? that's a joke...the average age on that team is well into the 30s and there is NO Mike Richter, the sole reason why you won it in 96. |

i didnt say that we would win it, but that you guys have pretty high expectations and anything less than winning it all would be a disappointment. if i had to take a guess i would say that sweden has a pretty good chance at it if there defense can hold up (besides canada).
i found the tv schedule for people that get ESPN

we always have expectations of winning everything...that comes with it. And the majority of the time, our boys get it done. Sweden are always picked to do big things, but never do in the end. |

| They dont support or show this in the US, so I have no complete experience with the series. From seeing it last year though, it was really valiant how Canada physically beat up every team they couldnt match skill for skill. Rooting for Canada here is like rooting for the Yankees. Big whoop| |

haha...Canadians can't match European teams skill for skill? Physical play IS a skill you moron! The best players in the history of the game are Canadian and most of the greats now (especially goalies) are Canadian. You're so full of crap. We invented the game...if you can't take a bit of checking, don't play or watch it, or better yet...just watch the panzy European leagues. Finesse passing and fancy skating is all fine and dandy, but it doesn't get you far when you're on your ass.
About the scheduling...if you check TSN's World Cup section, they have all the games listed. ESPN does as well. Canada's pool schedule is as follows. The final, I know for sure, is a one game final and is to be played on September 14th.
Vs. USA - August 31st, 7pm in Montreal
Vs. Slovakia September 1st, 7pm in Montreal
Vs. Russia September 4th, 7pm in Toronto |

OK, Im a moron...youre the Yankees of International hockey - what?!? You invented the sport!! No kidding!
Yes, physicality is a skill, but when you are just skating around pounding Forsbergs face into the ice it does demonstrate a LACK of normal talent. Plus when the country that invented the sport has the biggest pool of potential players and then goes on to beat up on countries with 4 million players it gets pretty lame| |

I find it funny how everyone's picking Canada already, yet they lost to the US just last night in exhibition...
I'd say Finland is the team to watch out for. Remember, Kiprusoff is their goalie, and their team ain't too bad either. Altho I hope the Americans can at least do semi-decently like they did in the Olympics. I'm watching ever game, might be the only hockey I get to watch all year what with the lockout coming. |
