| Woohoo! I watched the game on tape this morning and I was sure we were going to lose it after USA scored first. Thank God they proved me wrong for once... anyway, I wouldn't bet all my money for Canada going to the final anymore. The Czechs played really well against Sweden and they are very dangerours when they are on form... |

and every hockey player will tell you that Canada is far more dangerous when on form...and it's quite obvious they are right now. Canada has made it to the final in this tournament all 6 times it has been played...1976, 1981, 1984, 1987, 1991 and 1996. The only losses coming in 1981 to the Russians and 1996 to the Americans. There's always a first for everything and I'm sure tonight's game will be tough, but in all likelihood, the nation most hated in hockey around the world will be in the Final yet again.:D |

who says we don't want revenge vs. the morons for 1998
Canada wins tonite then plasters finland.
Most countries field only one team, Canada has so many players and so many good players, we could have fielded an A team and B team and I think both would have met in the finals. |

Luongo didnt do so well in the 1st exhibition game, lets hope he'll be able to do the job like he did at the world championships last year. |

Ok, sure you have the best players in the world but it's only one game. Anything is possible, perfect game from Kiprusoff and that could be it. Also you have all the pressures.

arrogance? whos arrogant? I think its more passion than arrogance. I was hoping canada would play the US and kick their ass, but it looks like the fins already did that :D |

It's quite obvious Canada are hated around the world (as a hockey nation at least). I agree that's it more passion and hope for Canada that parallels the English love for proper football...except Canada can back it up with results.;) (I'm an England football fan by the way).
People just don't like us because, simply, we are the best. Maybe not every tournament, but player for player, team for team, Canada is always a favourite and a legitimate contender. Until 1998, the Canada Cup/World Cup (same tournament) was the only international showcase for the BEST players in the world because NHLers were not allowed to compete in the Olympics. This tournament now seems unnecessary, but NHL participation in the Olympics is only going to be guaranteed from each Games to the next.
But as I said before, Canada has never missed out on the Finals in this tournament since its inception in 1976 so I think we'll be there again after tonight. |
