whos the US starting goalie, DiPietro or Esche?
Nevertheless I agree that Finland is a big sleeper. They have solid goaltending from Kipper to Toskala to Kari Lehtonen. And remember, Teemu Selanne always tries harder in international competitions. |

OK, Im a moron...youre the Yankees of International hockey - what?!? You invented the sport!! No kidding!
Yes, physicality is a skill, but when you are just skating around pounding Forsbergs face into the ice it does demonstrate a LACK of normal talent. Plus when the country that invented the sport has the biggest pool of potential players and then goes on to beat up on countries with 4 million players it gets pretty lame| |
Um...I watched the World Championship final and that's not what I saw. What I did see was Canada coming back from two different two goal defecits with our (at best) B Team, while you guys had every star available. Hitting has always been a part of the game...and don't think that only European players suffer the consequences. Bobbby Orr had his knees blown out by the time he reached 32 and what about Gretzky? It was in this VERY tournament when he injured his back (and was never the same after it) on a hit from behind courtesy of that Gary Suter in the 1991 final vs the USA.
As I said, checking is part of the game. We made the rules...if you can't take fair contact, don't play it. And about the exhibition games...they're just that...exhibitions. Half the Canadian team didn't even play. The real games start on August 30th. |

| Major Letdown?, you don't understand how seriously this country takes hockey and how seriously we take our national team's games. It is in Toronto and the players know if they up, all hell will break loose. Exhibition games mean nada, we all know the US could'nt win when the Gold medal was on the line in both finals in 2002. I'm not arrogant, if the Canadian team plays as a unit, I don't see any team beating us. The team has loads of firepower with probably the 2nd best goalie evah from my time in Brodeur (Roy was 1st, too bad he retired :(). Canada's team has loads of scorers and the team is probably one of the best lineups we have fielded in years, remember now we've won 5 of 7 world cups and I don't see why it will be any different this year. Scariest lineup was 1987 or 1976, those contained too many power scorers. Remember now our team is run by the greatest player to ever play ice hockey in Wayne Gretzky and his record speaks for itself. Our captain is the aging Mario Lemieux who can still play, add to that St.Louis, Richards, Leclavier, Sakic, Ignila, Heatley...I'm not worried if Canada gets into a firefight. |

LOL....time to give you a 411 on this tournie. All the teams make the playoffs, the top seeds play the weaker seeds from the other group. The final is a best of 3 game series in Toronto, you win 2, it's done with. |

Torontotrance...hey mate...there is no 3 game final this time. The Final Game will be played on September 14th, but it's just a one off. Check the schedule on TSN and ESPN.
Sweden have never won this tournament (in fact they were beat in 1984 in the final by Canada) and we have beaten them the last two years running in the World Championship with our second stringers against pretty much the team they have right now. |

Sorry but I have been living under a rock in England. No one knows about hockey here.
I have faith in my Swedes although I really like Canada as well. So go Canada and Sweden lol, :D |
