This article is pretty funny. I am not a pdiddy fan due to the fact that today's hip hop ...or should I say hip pop scene is something I try to avoid. Can't deal with the attitude and the whole bling bling package it comes in. I'd agree that most people who listen to EDM are not lovers of what is being offered up right now in the rap scene but I would say alot of that is due to the fact that the commercial stuff that is so popular right now is not really rap. Give me some old school Tribe Called Quest,WU-TANG or NWA and I would say ...yeah..I like rap and can appreciate rap talent when I hear it. Talk to me about pdiddy, nelly and others...well, I'd rather just leave that to the radio pop lemmings.
Pdiddy however is a brillant business man. Which is why him performing in Ibizia kind of surprises me. Don't really see the fit and he usually is bang on when it comes to knowing how to promote his product and where to promote it. Can't blame a guy for trying though. |

Proving you wrong? How about that stabbing at the party at the Docks. Wasn't it Hullabaloo? I forget already.
Dude, I'm sorry for being so blunt, but equating a genre of music w/ cultural crime is ludicrous. About the equivalent of blaming Marilyn Manson for Columbine.
The majority of comments in this thread have been just as ignorant as the people we on for cutting up our scene. Shame. |

the Roots, J5, fugees, Ghostface, and to be honest I've always loved Diddy circa 1997. |

Spanish police boarded P Diddy's yacht moored off Ibiza after neighbours complained of loud music.
Six officers boarded the yacht after complaints about noise, according to eyewitnesses.
"They asked him to be quiet. He didn't respond to their satisfaction," a source told the New York Daily News.
The rapper is currently holidaying on the Spanish island. |

Whatever!! If your telling me that showing guns and talking about killing and being in gangs in your music video is not going to have an adverse effect on kids who listen to this stuff then people are just being ignorant, with freedom of speech comes responsibility aswell. Furthermore, I am not saying all blame should be put on the artists who produce "GANGSTA RAP", society as a whole is responsible. But parents and society cannot compete against the constant message from these artists. (I am sounding like my parents!!!)
p.s PD was also involved in a club shooting not too long ago. If he was at fault, I dont know and I dont care. But you have to agree that the elements are there and if you wanna ignore them so be it. Its a free country... |

To put it in the form of a university exam question:
Hip hop is to violence as:
a) President Bush is to fear mongering
b) Electronic music is to drug consumption
c) Orko is to bedwetting
d) Trance Addict is to complaining
e) all of the above |
