Does that really matter? Shouldn't the focus just be a place that can fit all of us and we you peeps can spin some? I think that'd suffice. :)

Dave
Orbital32
Got the sound covered. my friend going to bring his (1) JBL 2000 watts speaker.. (NO ING WAY AM I PUTTING THAT LOUD, i do like my windows.) The speaker should also take over the for the bass. His bass will bust all my windows.)

i was actually just pretending to be a normal jackass with a predictable comment,

hell, i wouldn't mind if we rented out a local mcdonalds or something, dancing + good dj's is a party for me.
dj_bas
nice! count me in dave! plus 2 friends maybe....what about people spinning who's gonna be 'allowed" to play?
liquidmist2001
sup bas! i guess i'll be seein' u at the pre-party! Dude, what happened to the speakers that you had, the one's that you used at Robin's party? u still have access to those then bring those over, they're not as loud as a 2000 watt system, but it would be safer...

hey dave, i can bring over the tables if it hasn't been arranged for already...

2 x technics 1210 m3ds, black

since i was in india for a month, i had to pack them up before i leave, and since i'm gonna be moving next week, i packed them up before i left. haven't even opened them up yet so transporting them is gonna be a breeze. what about records, is somebody bringing their records, are we all bringing records, or are the chief guests bringing their own stack?

i wouldn't suggest my speakers or mixer as the absolutely suck, but i can keep my mixer/headphones on standby if we do need to end up using them...

i'm prepared to pitch in a little bit of money too for food and drinks and if i get to spend some time with armin & markus as i won't be able to go to the damn show afterwards...

let me know if you guys need anything else...

peace,
vipal

SAFER SPEAKERS IS GOOD! I like to keep my house in one piece :P You guys want lights? I'll get some, just my friend will charge me. But at least he hooking me up with a speaker and power.
DaveT
This party will be happening in the day/evening I would imagine, so I doubt lights are needed. :-p

Orbital32: When you say 60-70 people can fit into your place, is that a comfortable 60-70 people, or is that a stuffed 60-70 people. :)

OK, latest updates as of Aug 23rd:

Armin & Markus status: Still waiting to hear back from their manager Dave Lewis to 1) get confirmation that they would surely make it if this pre-party happens, and 2) be sure they are OK with it being at a house (see below). This preparty was their idea, so hopefully he will say yes!

Again, I am sure that if Armin and Markus can't make it, most of you will bail. A bit understandable, so I doubt this party would happen if they can make it. I doubt I would be there, simply because I'm sure my girlfriend would care less about going then, lol.

Location: Looks like the only viable place will be Orbital32's place if this happens - 15 minutes from Hollywood. Only one who has volunteered his house. A few small venues were looked into, but all charging an arm and a leg. Was hoping to find a venue that would let us get it for free as long as the bar/food/whatever tab was at a minimum costs that I think we would have brought it up to once we all got there and ate/drank/whater, but no luck.

Vinyl Decks: It sounds like DJ Tranz will provide the vinyl decks. At least he said he can. Backup: liquidmist2001's Technics 1210 m3ds.

CDDJs: YellowG555 has volunteered his Pioneer CDJ 1000 and Pioneer CDJ 700. This could turn into being two Pioneer CDJ 1000s if he decides to buy another one by then. Backup: None.

Needing CDDJs would be primarely for Armin and Markus' use, as it sounds like most of you who do DJ don't use CDDJs at all.

Mixer: DJ Tranz has volunteered this, too. Need to make sure there are four channels (for two vinyl decks and two CDDJs). Backup: None.

Table for Decks/CDDJs/Mixer: Uhhhh, Orbital32, do you have a table (or tables) that the decks, CDDJs, and mixers can go on?

Speakers: Orbital 32 has access a a single JBL 2000 watt speaker? But come on!! Gotta least try to have sound coming from two directions if possible. dj_bas, you still have those speakers liquidmist2001 is speaking of? :)

Amp: I suppose whether we need an amp or not really depends on the speakers in the end...to see if they have a built in amp or not. This could be trouble, as we'd be lucky to find someone with an amp if it's needed.

Other DJs: I'd say only TA's would DJ (and Armin & Markus, who would DJ together for about an hour). First people who should have the rights to spin a little are those who provide equipment and Orbital32 since he's most likely providing the venue -- I think that would be only fair. How many DJ's who would spin overall will depend on how long the party is. Times would be settled once everything else is set in place. I would say it should end no later than 8pm -- well, you all could go past that, but that's probably when my girlfriend and I are gonna have to bail. Maybe something like 5pm-8pm or 4pm-8pm? Again, this will be worked out when everything else is settled.

Attendance: At the time of this update, the count is approaching the mid-40s. Orbital32 has said that the place can hold 60-70 people if necessary. For Armin's & Markus' sake, I think we might want to keep the place from getting too packed. Anyone have any idea of how we should control attendance? As lame as it sounds, anyone think it might be a good idea to keep a list and only let those on it in the house? We might want to consider a cutoff point on the number of people on the list if we do something like that. IF YOU HAVE NOT CLEARLY SAID YOU WOULD COME, YOU ARE NOT AND WILL NOT BE ON ANY LIST. Waiting to find out from Orbital32 how packed the place would be with 60-70 people in it, if it's a comfortable level or if it's kinda stupid packed.

Food/Drinks: Because I don't really want to have this end up being a party where someone ends up having the burden of spending money for food and drinks, I'd say the best idea would to ask everyone to bring drinks and snacks (chips, pretzles, whatever).

Reguarding alcohol: Many will hate this and ultimately this is not my decision in the end since it is Orbital32's place, but I am kind of against it. And here's why: Ever been at a house party where there were underage people drinking and the cops showed up because some neighbor complained about noise or something and when the cops come, they suspect underage drinking, start asking IDs from everyone, and after it's all over a lot (everyone over 21) of people are in a lot of trouble because they knowingly allowed people under 21 to consume alcohol? And the minimum fine? $1,000 per person under 21! Well, I have (when I was under 21, but I was not drinking) and it SUCKED. It happened way back in December 1999 (at a NYE party), but it still sucked for all those involved and I don't want to ever end up having to deal with that as someone over 21. But again, it's not my choice in the end.

Stay tuned...
