So you agree that the money generated from the UN sale of oil did not go to saddam?
I agree that saddam did earn loads of money from illegally smuggling oil and receiving illegal kickbacks and money from companies and people that did business and trade with iraq, all under the noses of UN officials who were themselves bribed by saddam and those companies that did business with saddam. That is true........butthe majority of the funds generated went to Kuwait for reparations done after the first gulf war, UN administration of the program as well as making provisions to the iraqi people.
The reason why the state of the hospitals and the health system was so poor was because most of the critical resources that are required in hospitals were not allowed to enter the country because of fears of dual use capabilities in the production of weapons of mas destruction. The same is also with critical parts to repair water treatment plants(plants that the US and brittish bombed before there was even a second war!!), which contributed to the poor state of health of iraqi children.
Iraq before getting into any conflict with the US had the most admirable and best funded health system in the middle east and rivalled those systems in place in certain european countries.
Also badbadass wannabe neil..........didnt ur mutha ever tell you its rude to point a gun at people? Get some f**** manners u prick!!:stongue: :haha: |

Listen, I proved my point that Saddam was using oil for food money for his own purposes. Not to mention the oil he smuggled through turkey and syria that was under the table, again for his own purposes. If the healthcare system went poor and people had no money then just take a look at the 20+ palaces that were used by a single man, then you tell me where the money went.
In regards to your name calling, please, don't try to insult me from the internet, its rather lame. If you have something bad to say about someone say it to their face or don't say it at all. |

If someone on this board feels like I’m wrong about N. Korea I welcome your thoughts. | I feel the same way about N. Korea, and I live on the west coast. Won't say something retarded like Bush, "Bring them on" but it seriously needs to resolved. Bush just flipped flopped, "I don't think you give timelines to dictators.". Oh my, I wonder if he knew Saddam was a dictator. |

i believe that, as a world, we need more courage to fight what is fundamentally a flawed system of religious beliefs that dominate what could be very proud and prosperous Muslim street. do i sound cliche' or uncool or have a "blind trust"? whatever.
I'm not gonna argue what i think are semantics over whether or not Saddam was a true Islamic facist or a secular Islamic facist. its a waste of my time. his trial as a facist might prove us both wrong. that is a reality that none of us are in a position to argue.
as far as N.Korea is concerned, what exactly do you think happened for four years in 1952 when tens of thousands of our soldiers died defending the Korean penninsula from proxy Chinese aggression. i've said this before here to people curiously seeking invasion. we fought, lost and won that war and the proof is in the two countries that exists to this day. do a little research into N. Korea and you will find out that they are teetering on a human disaster under Kim Jung Il. Iraq and N.Korea are two very different animals regards to military intervention. anyone who knows the situation over there realizes that. you just cannot compare the two. you should be proud of what S. Korea has become under our military blanket it has become a real economic force in that region and as much as KimJongIl would like to supress that from his people, he can not. Japan, China, S. Korea and that madman's NUCLEAR ARSENAL have everything to do with unbalancing the scales from what they already are.
"why don't we invade N.Korea instead of Iraq just for there oil" is a very uneducated proposition. but we have been in a position to fight them again for the last fifty years. |

The reason we treat the North Koreans differently is because they have one of the largest armies on the planet, a real airforce, a real navy, long range multistage ballistic missiles, only a armistice with South Korea, and threats backed with real forces to destroy Seoul if we attack them in any way. And don't forget the point you just made, north korea HAS weapons that can reach the west coast. If we attack I don't think the people in san francisco and LA will like missiles in their back yard. This is the whole premise for stopping iraq BEFORE they could reach such a level because once a country reaches a certain point, force doesn't become an option any more. |
Let’s think about what you just said.... Just because N. Korea has an army that might put up a fight we should just turn our heads and act like that don’t have NUKES? What happened to consistent policies? Our policies should be the same for N. Korea as Iraq. I never felt this alarming fear that Bush sold to the American people about Iraq as I do about Kim Jong-il. Kim Jong-il says to the world I'm going to back out of the nuclear treaty, test intercontinental ballistic missiles and show everyone I have enriched uranium. Look, its like this, in one hand we have Bush SAYING Iraq has WMD's so lets go over through his goverment with no fear of Saddam using them on the US and in the other we have Kim Jong-il that has shown his weapons off and yet were to chicken to try doing the same thing to N. Korea?!?!?!?
Kim Jong-il has a proven record of selling arms of all types to anyone with money and he is ONE year away from being able to produce large amounts of enriched uranium. Please don’t misunderstand me, this is not a political thing for me....I have voted republican and democrat and just feel that my current president is doing more harm then good.
The stuff in N. Korea is very scary and I feel because it’s not on the news that much it’s not really thought about by the voting public.
If you are really interested in what’s going on in N. Korea you should check out this book - Nuclear Terrorism : The Ultimate Preventable Catastrophe. I just got done with it and I'll have to say it freaked me out real good.
politics, Kim Jong-il must be stopped! |

we have been very consistant with N.Korea. we were very consistent with Iraq. i just don't think your right in comparing the two. way too many other things to consider in that region. |

Kim Jong-il is a bigger threat to the US then Saddam ever was. I'm not worried about Kim Jong-il shooting a missile at the US I'm only worried about his selling them to people that will.
Don't listen to me just read this book and come back and we can chat about it. You should be scared and you're not.
