Going more prog?

My personal preference of music is epic/uplifting/tech trance. I enjoy prog for listening, but as far as the genre i spin, its Trance. One thing ive noticed over the course of the year that ive been spinning is that alot of DJs are switching to prog, and alot of current DJs are prog (Markus, Perry etc.) Even i have gotten about 10 prog records in my crate lately, im just wondering, what happened to Pure Trance, it seems like its fading. Can Someone please answer my question about why alot are going more prog, and why trance seems to be fading, compared to the latest prog. releases

Well there are those who influence the transistions in the music and there are those who go along with those transistions that the influencer makes upon the crowd. Choose where you want to be :)

First off, what is "pure trance?" That means different things to different people. The trance of today is not the same trance as five years ago, or of five years earlier than that.

Trance is not fading. It's changing. The same thing occured when anthem started overtaking progressive trance.

But in all honesty, the new progressive sound isn't really progressive at all. It's epic/uplifting in progressive clothing. You wouldn't find Sasha or Seaman spinning Markus Schulz material.

This thread was not created as a prog hate thread, im just wondering why alot of DJs and Releases are coming out for prog, and Trance seems to be losing its flame, i enjoy prog, but trance is where its at, for me

Maybe just for an example Rank 1 - Awakening is Epic/ Uplifting

its faster and really sweepy, i know Proggressive trance has alot of those elements but im just curious on why the good ol' sound is fading

To more directly address your question, epic trance is going bankrupt. Melodic "American" Progressive has given Armin and his clan a new direction to go in, so it's not surprising that it's becoming more popular.

Do you have any idea just how many tracks sound like Rank 1 material?
