Yeah, yeah, equality. Right. If you say that, you'll have to say that the swastika is associated with power.

Of course the swastika is associated with power - i havent disputed this. And whether you like it or not, communism is about equality - it's people's interpretations of it that are ed up - hence why it went so badly wrong in the 20th century.

But the negative aspects are the stronger ones on both. Which was my original point.

My friend has a buddhist swastika on his right chest. And yes he is a buddhist. It looks friggingly cool imo. Was thinking about getting 1 too until i realise I'd be 99% sure i'll regret doing it when i'm 40.

The sickle and hammer isnt directly associated with racism though, its associated with equality - it just didnt happen that way in the Soviet Union.

During the first two years of occupation, the Nazis killed about 120,000 inhabitants of Poland, while the Communists killed 400,000.

Over 10 million ethnic Germans were expelled from eastern Europe, and about 2 million perished.

[and no i dont mean cos im a nazi]

Swastika in any form or shape represents evil, chauvinistic way of thinking and doing. It is not welcome, unless you’re “white trash”, southern junkie trying to hate Jews, which will pretty much put you in jail for sure. In the better case, you will be beaten by groups of random people as a consequence. So, it’s totally up to you. One more thing…if you live anywhere but Arkansas, don’t do it.
Being a Jewish, I find even the idea of what you want extremely offensive. Would I put you or anyone with such a tattoo in the hospital and then sue them? Definitely. Would any of my friends help me to tear you apart? Not a single doubt. So…go ahead, get a tattoo come to Chicago and walk around. Your mother will be getting you back in zinc container.

that term is itself chauvinistic

Now, now, be nice.

I'm sure he doesn't want it because of the nazi-stuff, but he forgets that all the people around him will still think he got it because he is a nazi.

Ever tried to explain an angry jew (or gipsy, or any other 'minority' - no offence, you get the point) that you are not a nazi, but just like the swastika because it looks cool??

Seems really hard to me... :nervous:

Now that you mentioned it, yes it is.

Not really. Imagine if, for some weird reason, the rings of the olympic games (you know, the rings) were used by a community that wants, for example, to have the whole world reserved to the Hindu people and decided to kill people from other countries.

The symbol was being used to something evil, and might even gain a new bad meaning, but it's still got the previous meaning.

This is the good meaning of the swastika:

If you use linux click here to see the website

Change [] for <> and there you go. It's a lot better than just quoting the website and offering the link. That's why I'm in favour of having HTML on in every forum. Some lame people can do stupid things, but there are many useful things you can do with it.

Doesn't work if you're running linux.
