Meeting new people, how to?

Lately my friends and I have grown apart, we have changed, grown up, moved in seperate directions. But I have always had difficulty meeting new people, so I'm having less and less friends, and more time to be bored. The friends that I do have share very few interests/hobbies with me.
So my question, where are good places to meet people? I mean, do you just wander the city and talk to random people, or meet people at bars, in class? I think like alot of people my age, we havent developed proper social skills, so anyway... how do you all make new friends? (real life, not internet):toothless |

i met and made friends being involved in the Honor Society at a local community college when i attended for 2.5 years. granted i needed a decent gpa to join, so i did, and then put forth the effort to attend the leadership meethings. thats one great group of friends that i am still friends with.
