Why is There So Much Hostility to Mixing With MP3s? (pg. 6)

Did I say he was a GoD?

So what Sasha has not released a self production since 2002, who cares. Sasha knows something that we don't and he obviously does not remix everything given to him unlike some deejays and you don't see him whoring his own record label like most deejays. What you think about Sasha is really a mute point here because he has always been one step ahead of the industry and he is not stupid.

Say you don't have any decks of any kind, but you are working hard and saving up for them. During this time, you might want to continue to learn how to DJ. You can use MP3 mixing software to develop your own style and learn how to build your own set. Granted, you learn nothing about the technical issues of mixing, but who cares? You're still learning how to be individual with your mixes, and how to construct a set, which is just as vital as knowing how to mix technically.

Agreed, if you are saving money to buy decks and want to learn the other mediums. I just don't like when people try to take shortcuts. I had a guy give me a cd he had mixed on his computer. Not only was it not that good, but, to me, you can't call yourself a dj when you mix on a computer.

I would maximize my earnings potential if I were in his shoes, and people will be irratated if you hold back good tracks. But why the hell didn't he release "Autumn"? :whip: :whip: :whip:

3 similar tracks a month

lets review this

Since Columbia EP 2001

Paul has released(self productions)

Nothing But You(single)
Crush(single)
Reflections(album)
Tool/Connected(single)
Wir Sind Wir(single)

that is 5 releases the past 3 years, what are you crying about?

Paul never released autumn because it was just a rework of autumn tactics...

so sasha is special because he doesn't remix everything given to him, and doesn't whore his label?

Time of our lives. One of those records has motorola on it. And how many tracks are there on Reflections? Then you figure his remixes on Vandit. I'm just saying, he releases a fair amount of tracks, not lp's in general, and they have all had, in essence, the same sound. That's three years worth of work, a lot of tracks, and he hasn't grown as a producer. To me, he's selling out. He found a formula that sells and appeals to the masses, so he sticks with it. I don't dislike him for that, nor do I blame him, I just idealistically want different.

Sasha does'nt own a label anymore, he still co-owns a dj agency but that's it. I never said Sasha was any better, I just said that he is usually one step ahead of the rest, that being said, Digweed is usually a step ahead of him by that point. Too many deejays are too busy just playing stuff from their own label like mad, you don't see Sasha pulling that stunt. Too many deejays remix songs like mad and it leaves watered down productions but Sasha rarely remixes a song anymore. I'm just saying you can hate him all you want but I think he is smarter than PvD and has not fallen into the same pitfalls as your God.

No, he's special because his sound evolves and he isn't just trying to make a buck. He could remix or produce a whole lot of stuff and it would sell. Instead he takes a long time on his tracks and ensures that it is different and intelligently done. That's not directed as an attack on PVD, I still think he's intelligent. But there are a lot of producers out there that make garbage. And to some extent, even you said, PVD doesn't take enough time on his tracks.

motorola = connected fyi...

11 i think on reflections

so that is 12 original tracks since 2001

is that a lot?

its more like 1 album worth of work(couple of months), and a single this year.

If you were a dj and spun tracks that made millions all over the world go crazy to(which is a huge accomplishment by itself), i think you would stick to that formula...

like ive prevoiusely stated, in what way has his sound evolved? Djing? production? Its basically been the same style imo since Arkham Asylum(i think the last track sasha produced alone) in 96.

Sasha has countless remixes, andy how many would you say he has? close to 50? i think only paul has more. And are you going to tell me all of them are high quality?

I was having mind battles as to motorola and connected, which name I wanted to use. It's on the same vinyl as Time of Our Lives. Isn't there a track with Crush too? I can't remember. This is a useless discussion now. I understand him doing it, but I still think he's whoring himself out as a dj/producer. But if I had that kind of money thrown at me, I probably would too. I'm not judging him, I just don't like it personally.

i understand you, but all im saying is that paul basically has just released the tracks he has on his album + wir sind wir, which isnt flooding the market.

i would say Crush, NBY, Tool, Connected, wir sind wir actually all very different tracks, besides the kick & bassline which is totally different in trance compaired to progressive/house.
