i love sushi...i could drop sick amounts of money per sitting just eating sushi. loved how in japan you could go and buy little "lunch boxes" of sushi just about anywhere.
another of my favorites is korean food:
kimchee (spicy pickled cabbage...or sometimes other veggies)
pulgoki (korean BBQ beef)
kalbi (thin slices of marinated beef)
i could live off of those three and rice lol.
actually, i like most kinds of asian food.
also love steak...just about any kind of steak as long as it isnt well done (prefer medium to medium rare)
Anyone else like cajun food? Lived in New Orleans for 5 years, and couldnt get enough of it. (especially crawfish....mmmmmm....mudbugs)
now that i think about it, i like most kinds of food....will try just about anything. |

That was me who wanted to try salmon
I saw some at the fish market the other day, but I got some other fish instead. I'll definatly get me some.
If any of you are ever in South Africa, and more importantly near cape town, get yourself some smoor snoek, a snoek is a type of fish, which is quite meaty very good eating. and smoor is basically pickled.
Also sometimes we barbaque a snoek and smear it with apricot jam and salt and pepper and garlic. |

even though they say a strong cabernet is good for filet, i prefer pinot noir...not so much bite...i like filet w/ no sauce on it..just some fresh ground black pepper and maybe some butter...that's it. |
My dad knows how to make great "pepper steak" as the french call it, baisically fillet mignon with pepper corns all over it in a peper/mustard sauce. I have to get him to teach me sometime. |

Salmon is awesome...my dad used to go salmon fishing every summer and bring home all kinds of salmon, and some other fish as well...and also get some awesome pictures. |

the only way i like salmon is the way i described...only because it has the sweet crab stuffing...makes it awesome..i'm not a big fan of salmon by itself though...
and the peppercorn thing sounds good...my boyfriend always orders peppercorn seasoned filet if they have it (it's pretty popular at some restaurants).
and i agree w/ the kimchee! good stuff:) i like korean/asian food too. but i'm not a fan of cajun...my dad loves the stuff...i mean i'll eat it, but i'm not into jumbalaya or any of that cajun crawfish stuff...it's OK.
let's see i have another good recipe for a dessert or sweet side dish that my mom taught me recently...it's great for a holiday party if you have to bring a dish.
get a bag of very ripe red grapes (kind of hard still) and then take cream cheese (let it soften a bit before preparing) and sour cream and Splenda (the sugar substitue) and a bag of pecans...mix it all together...the splenda u can add to your liking depending on how sweet you want it...but it makes like a sweet creamcheese type sauce...make the sauce first and then add the grapes and nuts last...it's soooo good! use lite creamcheese and sour cream if u want to cut on the fat... |

oh man, i'm gonna make that oreo thing this weekend for my boyfriend..he'll love it, he loves oreo flavored shakes and stuff... i told him i was going to cook a nice dinner this weekend so i got the dessert down:) thanks!
*edit* you just bake the crushed oreos by itself for the crust? you don't add egg or anything to bond it? |
