Is it just me, or is everybody a sellout?
It seems that almost any big name gets bashed, and there is no end in sight.
what recently set me off, was trying to get through the thread about Tiesto's upcoming Olympics CD release.
thread here
so many people were quick to jump on the wagon and start hanging Tiesto for releasing this cd. I even remember seeing that, it would be specially priced(which i would believe to be a low price) so that MORE people could get their hands on it. Why then, are people accusing him of "selling out" and just trying to make a quick buck?
I really dont understand the Top-DJ bashing. First Oakey, Tiesto, who's next? Is Armin's free(meaning he doesnt get paid for it) ASOT not enough? Should DJs be throwing cds off buildings? I find all this rediculous.
Are people just mad that their fav DJ isnt doing what they want anymore? I know some people become really emotionaly attached to the music a dj spins, hell i know i am(Oakey!). But what happens when a dj plays something different, something you dont like? Should you automatically bash them because they "sold out", or should you support them for trying something new?
Or is all this just one big consiparacy to make some users mad? are people banding together to purposely bash djs, to get a rise out of loyal fans? WTF is going on? |

| Some philosopher once said that one who is able to see things from the perspective of another person or group of people is a truly rare individual. I tend to agree with that, as this post clearly demonstrates how few people are able to do that. I can absolutely, positively guarantee you that EVERYONE on TA would do the SAME EXACT THING if they were in his shoes. |

So you are trying to tell us to gain outside perspective, but then you make a generalization concerning the perspectives of all TAs... Hrmmm :rolleyes:
Aside from that, I hear you Orko! Although I think that big name DJs tend to sell out as a rule when they become *superstar* DJs. I don't fault them for it.. gotta make that CASH! It's a function of popularity, get over it people! If you don't like the direction your former favorite DJ has gone, write him/her a letter (or something like that), but quit with the "OMG such and such has sold out posts/threads".

Let's be honest.
If you were in 'his/her' DJ shoes, why wouldn't you unless you didn't need the money?
A DJ's career is normally short-lived at best and while they may enjoy what they're doing, why not make some money at it?
"Sellout" is such a fallacious word used by those with a morality complex... :rolleyes: |

Precisely. I suggested something and then demonstrated it. Leadership by example ;) And besides, my generalization was correct. Unless you think there are people who WOULD say no to a million bucks? |

Dude, what are you smoking? You're referring to one month-old thread about Tiesto and using that as an example of how we're all on a generic DJ bashing bandwagon? Jesus, talk about jumping to conclusions! I don't think I need to further explain the fallacies present in this argument.
Can you find one example of "bashing" that don't refer to (a) Oakenfold or (b) Tiesto? Did you maybe stop to figure that there might be a legitimate reason for those two being bashed?
I know we've hurt your feelings by putting down your hero(es) but try for a minute to be logical about this. One "rock star" DJ getting cut up on a forum is hardly evidence of what you're suggesting in this thread. |
