Vocoding and vocal sampling. Surround sound dance music would be pretty sweet too.

Someone will invent a brand new genre that everyone in the world likes which then gets ruined by people arguing in forums about who likes it the most.

Then psy makes another comeback.

I'm definitely seeing this trend of glitchy, broken vocal house/progressive sounds w/ the likes of Holden, Petter, Ozgur & Sasha. Not saying its a bad thing, but too many people having that sound would be dull IMO.

Psy isn't going to make a comeback anytime soon. Neither will hardcore.

On the other hand, I think acid has a decent chance of being revived. Electro might shift from 'popular influence' to 'scene wildfire,' but I don't think it's particularly likely; Ferry and Tomcraft have been trying to light that one for a while now, with no real trend-setting.

There's always the unforseen cultural trend. No one can really predict that. It would be like someone in 1988 acid house saying "well, when anthem house meets up with German techno, I think big things will happen!" There's really no way to see those big shifts until they're already rolling.

DANCE-TECH will be the trend for years to come

Psy-Trance has been on a recent clime recently. A lot of good innovational artists are coming outta the wood work and making noise in the scene. John '00' Fleming is gaining much deserved fame and with him being such a high profile DJ he's reaching out to people and giving them a daily dose of psy-trance with other genres as well. I wouldn't say Psy-Trance is going to be the next big trend but it's definetly going up and not down, finally.

I'm not sure if anyone could say what the next big trend will be, but I see Tech-Trance becoming more likable and other Techno influences getting stronger within the EDM scene. Hard Trance has faded away and now it's getting replaced with a Techy version of itself.

So that's my take. I don't think much is going to change, not much has changed since 2003...so we shall see.
