oh & dave, fyi I voted for Blair at the last general election here, I'd rather trust the people who lie to your face than do so behind your back like the conservative party here ;) ;) |

| why is what ian said 'anti-american'?? jesus christ - all he said was that americans dont really get British humour. I think it frustrates them, and they get offended when we take the piss out of the americans, but its only a bit of fun. |

You totally misunderstand what I mean, the way we use sarcasm and wit over here is totally different, I know a lot of American TAs who have grown to understand our ways, like UWM and Angelblue etc who are great people, but an awful lot do not and probably never will. |
I lived in London for 6 months during a study abroad at the London School of Business.
I enjoyed the english culture during my stay and can spot an english amile away.
What you said wasnt funny but rather a lame ass attempt ( like most of your silly posts on TA) to offend americans.
I should come over there and kick your ass punk. |

Dave, if I really wanted to offend Americans I could easily do so, and would not do it in the ways that you are assuming i'm offending americans in. It is a culture difference that I'm pointing out and was in no way personally insulting you at all. I watch american tv shows, I have friends in America, I still watch wrestlin which i grew up on, I like some American rock music, why would I spend all of my time insulting things that I agree with, I wouldn't. Sure I like to point out the differing stupidity at times, the way you're reacting to harmless comments here when I started by defending your position against party107 only goes to further prove Lucy's point here.
If you'd like to make a personal threat to kick my ass, please be my guest, but until they make the intranet available with real time abilities to stab people in the face, I don't think you'd succeed. I wouldn't even fight back, it'd be pointless and only goto show that you're taking a message board too seriously. I'd rather be a 'cheeky' git who enjoys trying to be funny and having a laugh than a grumpy , what's the point in going through life with that kind of attitude. |

To further prove my point, this is one of the funniest videos I own, its a comedian from the north of the UK called Peter Kay
Even people in the south of our country don't get his humour at times, so I understand why you aren't finding our wit funny, but you're just proving my point which was 'Some American people don't get the UK way of sarcasm or wit' If I really have to spend all day explaining that or end up getting threatened because of it, then this world really is going down the ter |

give it your best shot... you'd probably be correct in which case I'd agree with you, or so far off the mark you make an old bloke with a problem aiming for the toilet bowl look like a good shot ;) |
