| 2 straight wins for Sixers lately, great performance by AI again! They have no chances for the 3rd spot :( but maybe the'll past the Pacers, who knows... ;) |

| AI for MVP anyone? People can say how Shaq turned around the Heat all they want, the Sixers wouldn't win 1/3 of their games without Iverson. Not to mention he's having his best year statistically, in his career. |

Heh it would be great if The Answer got that award again, but I don't think so...Shaq or Nash will get it this time... :( |

I agree that AI should get some votes for the MVP but Nash and Shaq both have done it all year. Plus, they have counterparts in allowing them to excell.
I also think Andre Igoudala should be mentioned for the Rookie award. He's been a really big boost down the stretch defensively. |

good choices for mvp ..
shaq, ai, nash, dirk nowitzki, and tim duncan of course .. no one is really talking about how dallas has improved from last year, after losing steve nash and don nelson ... playing some solid defense as of late, and really taking charge .. however, they could get ousted by the hot teams houston or denver .. both have been playing excellent ball right now ..
but one guy who really is taking charge, and getting up there in the ranks as one of the premiere point guards is gilbert areanas from washington .. he seems to make the game a lot easier for his teammates .. he even made larry hughes look good and have him average 20+ points per game .. :wtf: .. larry f'n hughes ! .. hahhahaa .. but he's awesome .. i would take him over any other point guard currently .. he has a better shooting range than both nash or kidd |

I think Iverson is a GREAT individual player, I think he plays hard every night, but I don't really feel that he makes his team better. He has had issues with most of his coaches in his history, has had players come and go (sometimes I feel that it is his fault). It is almost as though he is running the show. Sure he scores a lot but the guy puts up more shots than anyone else in the game.
I think MVP should be based solely on how you interact with your teamates and coach, the impact you have to other people around you, how winning your team is based on what you have contributed, and the difference when you are out of the lineup as opposed to when you are in.
This year I'd have to say that my top candidates are:
Shaq -
Obvious with his departure from LA, they suddenly are not in the playoffs, have a losing record, have fallen apart, and all their percentages are down. Goes to heat and takes a mediocre team and gives it the edge to be a possible championship team. I think probably should win it.
Nash - Sure the guy isn't the greatest scorer, or defender, or even 3 point shooter but that is not what this award is about, it is about how valuable you are to your team. Although Dallas has picked it up recently without him, he has been a catalyst with the Suns, again turning them into a team to run with at the end from a mediocre team loaded with talent. He departure with injuries and their losing should show how valuable the guy is. |

think about it .. if the heat did not have shaquille oneal right now, who would be their go-to center for their starting lineup ?..
cant be 'zo, because the only reason why zo came back to miami, because he sees miami as a winner, and he doesn't have to carry much on his shoulder to win games now .. miami is not a winner without shaq, and zo would have never joined miami without shaq ..
how about these guys ?? haslem? -- too short for center .. (6'8") .. michael doleac ?? -- pretty good guy .. started a couple of games for orlando .. a hard noser guy .. worse yet .. christian laettner .. :wtf: :nervous: :nervous: ..... or probably brian grant .. (was traded to lakers on shaq deal ..)
things will be a lot different if shaq did not sign with miami ... |

| yup...That is what I was saying. Without him they are just an average low level playoff team, with him they are a championship caliber team. That is one point that should make him the MVP. |

Shaq does make basketball in Miami a lot easier right now because he always demands double teams! Look at Damon Jones' and Dwayne Wade.. Wade is a talent in his own right in that he can create his shot with the best of them. However, Shaq has enabled him to come off pick and rolls and screens, then drive to the basket for a pull up jumper or a nice left handed layup.
But..
My vote goes to Steve Nash. He has turn Phoenix into the best team in the league! Miami doesn't have as great as a record. Plus, not only does Nash create opportunities for his team mates but he also is difficult on his own to stop. Someone above said he isn't the greatest shooter or three point shooter.. Wait. Last time I checked I think Nash was in the top ten in field goal shooting percentage. Granted, Shaq is number one in that category. But Nash does more then Shaq does. He passes the ball to his team mates on a fast break for easy quick points and just appears to be in charge out on the court.
I think a point guard winning the MVP would be a change from two guard or center.. But thats just me! |
