F**KING BULLS**T!:whip:
I'm on Queens Quay waiting at a red light to turn left into the parking lot next to Bamboo so I can go hear Mobius, Stylez and Schryer. All is good.
BAM!
:whip: Some s**t-face rear-ends me in his Pontiac vibe. I don't know how fast the a**hole was going but having your head bounce off the headrest 3 or 4 times isn’t a good start to a night of tunes.
:whip: The fat bastard didn't even want to exchange insurance info - I threatened to call the cops before he handed the information over. Mofo had no ownership papers AND HAD EXPIRED INSURANCE!
:whip: C. Gallimore – if you're reading this - you're a f**k up!! I hope you get sodomized with a pinecone.
:whip: After exchanging information and taking a detailed report of the incident (diagrams, etc) I verbally tore him a new and gave the f'er a good fist shaking.
:whip: Next time I carry a baseball bat in my trunk and solve it the old fashioned way – babe-ruth right across the f**kers eyes. "Try to drive with fish-eye bitch" whack!
:whip: I went inside Bamboo just to say "got to go, was in an accident" and didn't even hear more than 2 tracks...
:whip: Lucky me - the accident was right across from the marine police unit, so I stop inside to have them tell me to go to the accident reporting center at Royal York & West Mall. I get there and it's closed (M-F 9 to 9 only). I'll have to take it in tomorrow morning, which means I miss my Friday management meeting.
:whip: I call my insurance company and file the claim, wait for a call tomorrow from the "claim team". I have no idea what the damage is worth or what this is going to cost. Ironic thing is I go 9 years of my life without any accidents (and still paying $3k+ / year car insurance) – then I finally turn 25 and have my insurance to $1200 / year - and then 4 months later some f'up hits me. I hope to jesus my rates don't go up or I'm going to pull all my damn hair out mail it to the f’master as a gift.
:whip: So now I'm at home. Neck is sore, headache is bad, attitude is angry and my scowl is significant. RJ is one cranky bastard at this point.
:whip: To make things even more frustrating - my 2 year old, limited edition, possible future collector car (that they don't make anymore) is buggered up. I'm concerned it will never drive the same (rattles, squeaks, wind noise, vibration etc) - cross my fingers that nothing is done more than aesthetics. |

BTW: Sorry to the DJ's that I couldn't stick around. I was looking forward to this event all week and from the brief time I was inside the music was fantastic.
Great venue as well. Next time you have an event there, I will take the GoTrain. ;) |

RJ as long as you aren't hurt , that's the obvious important thing. stuff like this was beyond your control and could happen anywhere anytime so try not to dwell on it too much. i was in a car accident 3 days ago in my friend's car, and he was actually at fault.
anyway, i'm sorry to hear this and just hope things work out for you in the end

Maaaaaaaaaaan that sucks!!! So sorry to hear that. You shoulda called the cops and had him arrested for driving without insurance, no? At least stick it to him that way. Who the hell knows if he's really who his papers says he is? As it is, nothing else he had was up to date or valid.
What is he liable for now? Or are u forced to sue the guy? |

2002 focus SVT. I don't know the damage - I haven't got it estimated.
The bumper is not aligned completely properly (turned down a bit) and is slightly loose and his -all- of his plate #s are scratched into the paint on the bumper.
Don't get me wrong, the thing isn't totaled - but this is MY CAR!!! As a car guy - you know what I mean.
I am a car guy too, I baby it. It is always immaculate (inside and out) and I am protective of it. Even the slightest flaw or nick or rattle drives me nuts and I spend hours ensuring they go away (or don't come in the first place). My car is my friend, good friend.
Again - I cross my fingers that it just needs a new bumper and that none of the quarter panels or suspension/framework is warped/bent and that the trunk and doors will close firm as they always have. |

arrested for driving without insurance |
He had a pink slip - it expired August 1 2004. The pink-slip matched the license name, and I wrote it all down. We'll see what the popo say tomorrow when I take it to the accident center.

My understanding is that the person who rear ends (not the person who gets rear ended) is always considered to be liable (based on the law) for the cause of the accident.
Ontario has "no fault" insurance however so I'm not sure how exactly this will work. I have to talk to my insurance agent tomorrow. |

| If I were that guy, I'd be BEGGING to pay for your damages. Isn't it illegal to drive w/out insurance here? I still would've gotten the cops involved, on the simple basis that he wasn't cooperative or remorseful. Screw him. |

I called the Toronto Police general inquiry number immediately when it happened (before I knew the marine unit was behind the radisson hotel when I pulled around afterwards) and pressed "2" for automotive accidents and it basicly said that unless someone is seriously injured or damage has been done to public/private property that police do not attend accident scenes and that one is to take it to a reporting center.
I pointed out the expired insurance when I was writing it all down and the guy didn't have a response - I wasn't thinking that far a head at the time - I figured the DL, pink sheet and plate was good enough.
We'll see tomorrow. |
