LOL... i was raised a roman catholic myself. ;) believing what you believe now because it was a traditional thing to do in your family is being biased.. when u reach a certain age, you learn to judge things on your own. if you believe that the religion youve practice is true to your heart, then continue doing so if not you shouldnt feel any obligations to your family whatsoever. its us who make the final decision when doing things, not the religion itself unless youre afraid of the consequences that the religion teaches you and if thats the case its not a pure form/way of practicing it. |

| i definitely don't feel any obligations to my family at all. in fact, my mom goes to church every weekend but she isn't even a diehard catholic either, and she is the oldest of 6 raised in a pretty strict roman catholic (irish) family. she just enjoys going to church and having some quiet time to reflect on the week and reflect on god and her prayers, etc.. i respect that, but i don't ever go with her. i always fall asleep in catholic churches! lol but every now and then i'll go with her, and i'm always glad that i went because the priest usually talks about something that i can relate to in the sermon. the way i see it, is i'll definitely gain something by going. it's not like i'm going to become less of a person by going. :) |
