It was a good time. Thanks SO MUCH for getting in touch with Chris for me- he ended up coming along & made for great company. Due to a late start & heavy traffic leaving TO, we didn't come close to making it there b4 sunset. Went straight to the light control booth at the Falls, and I have a little 'hook up' with the guy who controls the lights, so Tapio, his friend Pia & Chris all got to change the colours of the lights on the Falls. We also fed raccoons. Then we went to eat at the Flying Saucer restaurant (actually shaped & painted like a cheesy flying saucer). Got back to TO at 11pm, changed, and we all headed to the Guv for the evening. From then on, I'll write in the review thread from last night. ;) |

This was my second time at Boa also, and once again it was amazing!
Orkidea delivered again as expected!!! Wow what a set I loved pretty much every minute of it. Definitely up there with as one of the top sets of this year that I've witnessed. What Can I say loved the Twinkle to the banging tunes at the end!
Tracks that I remembered:
Tilt - The World Doesn't Know
Infusion - Love and Imitation
Orkidea - Beautiful
Tiesto - Dallas 4pm
Tiesto - flight 643 (Orkidea's Wintergalactic remix)?
John OO Fleming vs Christopher Lawrence - Attention
This was one of my top sets witnessed this year for sure and so I'd like to thank TR for bringing back the best DJs for us to see and not just the ones that are popular for the moment!
Also a shout to all the TA's that I talked to that night... you all know who you are!!
Event Rating:
8/10 |

Wow, I'd forgotten that trance could be so fun! And also so hard on the feet!!
Got there at 2 and the place was busy. The opening dj played a confusing mixture of prog and tribal house that at least had the dancefloor nicely filled.
Orkidea was on just after 3 and during the next 4 hours he showed us all that trance could be. Achingly beautiful tunes, massive buildups, hands in the air screaming beats.... it was all done. Even heard some prog and breaks at times too.
Things finished at 7:10 and he was such a nice guy - talking to everyone after and even giving out a few copies of his album. Nice to hang out with tatgirl and the whole bunch of you there.... I'll try to remember names soon! :o
Good to hear you had fun at the Falls Nat, did the nyc'ers also go? |

| No, it was all very last second.. they had just woken up and wouldn't have been able to get ready within 10 mins. Chris came along instead tho. |

So here I am sitting at work, 2 weeks after the party, listening to the recorded set... (day dreaming....)
Enmass - CQ is playing and I can remember the moment it was played perfectly (where I was, who I was with. Heaven. Uber trance at it's best (CQ is one of my faves of the year, easily).
So on to the night:
Orkidea - the DJ: It has been a while since I've heard a trace set that was as technically sound as the one he played. I was listening (and I mean LISTENING) to every mix and transition and not only were they matched and phrased proper, but 9 out of 10 was harmonically correct! UNBELIEVABLE skill this guy has. Phenomenal. Great trance music all night - towards the beginning of the set we had some of the current hits, and as the night (and set) grew longer he started to add in some nice exotic (bits of hard/psy/epic) elements to the set. For me - and for a trance set - this was musically and technically superb. I was craving some proper trance for a while - Orkidea delivered 100% - reminded me what it was all about.
Orkidea - the dude: After the show, I waved Orkidea out of the DJ booth and he came and chatted with everybody who was left @ Boa. We all just stood around and yapped with Orkidea - talk about a nice guy! Super polite, humble and comfortable around us. While talking to him he tells us that he has been to Toronto 5 times - so I invited him to BBQ next time he comes (when he'd have more time). We asked him if he'd done the tourista stuff and he said never - 5 times in TO and not even seen Niagara! Nathalie jumped in and said "that's it - we're going to the falls tomorrow" and that they did. Orkidea also gave out some personally autographed artist CD's he had brought with him (thank you Orkidea!). What a great dude. He was the type of guy you'd want to be friends with. :)
Orkidea - the producer: So Orkidea gave me a CD, which I listened to on the drive home - thank god for that CD! UNITY is friggin' heavenly - GOD MUSIC! Not only that - but the CD has a Space Manouvres Orkidea Mix on it that blows my mind. Orkidea is an amazing composer, remixer and producer. I've probably listened to the whole CD 10 times in the last 2 weeks. Fantastic. Thanks Orkidea for the CD and making such great music.
Lastly - although the TOTA turnout was less than I had expected, we still rocked it out long and hard. Closing the club with such a stellar bunch was FANTASTIQUE! The night was amazing - music, people and energy.
Thanks to Orkidea, TR and Orkidea for the uber fun. |
