REVIEW: Mark S1 and ORKIDEA at BOA

Wow. I'm totally destroyed... Despite having pulled an all-nighter the previous day and having slept all day, I was so out of energy by the time Orkidea's 3rd hour came.
Hearing Ferry's remix of Synesthesia and Orkidea's own remix of Flight 643 were absolutely breathtaking.
Had an opportunity to chat with Orkidea after his set, such a gentleman. I mentioned that I was interested in getting a copy of his AMAZING remix of Space Maneouvres - Stage One, which was never released. He offered me a copy of his "Taika" CD, which I heartily accepted. Of course, everyone who saw that wanted a copy. RJ: Did you get yours autographed?
Great to see all the TAs out in full force, it's always a pleasure partying with you guys. Special shout out to all the 'new' TOTAs I met this evening. Hope to see you guys soon!

I had SO much fun! That was some workout I got on the dancefloor!! Feet are dead. Great sober night out (tho I think they're putting something in those energy drinks, I was cracking myself up all night!).
This was the 1st out of 7 the times I've seen Orkidea that I've actually known a good number of songs he's played (normally, I can catch only a couple). He went thru a range of genres over the course of 4 hrs. Several tunes played from a previous visit incl. Placebo remix (expecting to hear "You're listening to DJ Orkidea on Trancefusion Airwaves" come over the song, as it did on his radio set which I have recorded, lol!), Flight 643- Orkidea Wintergalactic remix. Lots of good vocal tracks, incl. a remix of Bryan Ferry's "More than This" w/female vocals, "Amen" & "Yimanya"... so many good tunes.
Crowd was a bit thin, but busier than most Fri nights at Boa. I felt like the personal cheerleader of the room, trying to get that crowd goin. People: if a party is sparce, don't add to the gloom by being so quiet- make some in noise!!!!! I've decided I need a megaphone for moments like this. That will be my new accessory. *Best moment was when I got the crowd going really good, scolding them for being so quiet, and only then do I notice Orkidea is not even IN the DJ booth to hear/ see this appreciation (bathroom break)-LOL!
Way too many people to thank for making my night so much fun. I had a blast with everyone there. I even had fun playing on my imaginary piano & violin at times.
Who knew energy drinks could be so much fun?!

My silly review:

Verdict: Yes please, may I have another :haha: :happy2:
Also great to see the familiar t.a faces and meet new ones Perhaps i will something more when im a little more .... able minded. And of course you know its been a good night when you leave exhausted :D :D |

Wow! What an amazing night! Mark S1 threw down a serious set in preparation for Orkidea. Orkidea was amazing.
That was the first time I ever heard him play, and he lived up to his reputation very well. I really hope he comes back to Toronto soon, cuz he's got a new follower right here.
Boa wasn't packed, but the vibe was most excellent! Well worth it. |

Glad you had a good time bro - did you end up talking to Rob?? Sorry guys i couldnt make it.....just wasnt possible this time around. Worked at 8:30 today, and i have Morales to go to tonite. Pissed i missed Orkidea though. |
