Armin interview and the Guv

I read an interview with armin a little while, friend sent it my way, im sure others have but this is his answer to a Q i thought i would post.

"How is America different to the UK?
Clubbing is becoming bigger in America. They are really enthusiastic to see European DJs. They idolise the European clubbing scene, especially the UK, but it’s a big country, every city is different to the others. You can’t compare, say, Chicago to other places. One place I’d like to particularly mention is Government in Toronto, which is just incredible. There’s 4,000 people there every weekend, it’s just the most amazing place."

Thats pretty kool i think. Makes you wonder how Mark Oliver was ranked #240 in the world on the djmag.com top 100

Unfortunately I don't think many people outside of Canada or some parts of the US know who Mark Oliver is :(

read this awhile back, even saw a thrad on it i think:conf:
but it really is amazing that he singled out TO and the guv:toocool:

I read this a while back.....it's great to see that he mentions the Guvernment. Toronto definately loves Armin!

Mark dedicates so much of himself to playing weekly @ the Guv, and other events across Canada. Most of the DJs that are big also have a single or album, or other productions to spread the word about them.

If Mark had some productions and did more self-promotion, I'm sure he'd do well internationally. The man has a great ear for music, and a talent for sharing it.

because we dont support our own like other scenes do. We are so obsessed with international DJs that we dont allow our own to become one.

Hes pretty well known across the whole country. Hes a draw in places like BC and Alberta when they fly him out there.

cant tell ya how many times ill be at Guv, and ill always hear lots of ppl either asking me or my friends "whos this DJ, hes awesome" and it'll be Mark Oliver dropping the beats

Hehe, they are always surprised:eek: when i tell them its Mark and hes the resident here at guv and lives here

(well, could be that some are just confused by whut a 'resident' is.... "do u mean a canadian resident???" :conf: LOL)

Id like also add:

Thanks armin for backing me up. When people whine about a club like the guvernment and i respond with an answer that it is a world class club. Ive seen Many international DJs walk in there and just stare at the place and the crowd. They cant believe the place. ANd these people have been to all the top clubs in the world.

Guv truely is a world class club and the people who whine constantly about it are really spoiled.

Lets not get into another boa vs guv or anywhere else vs guv flame war either because there arent too many places in toronto that are bad (except maybe cozo) LOL

Boa and Guv are 2 completely different types of places. Both of which are really good.
