Total = $80,000
50% of proceeds to talentless wonder DJ ( $40,000)
50% of proceeds to club ( $40,000)
Crunch the numbers and the club makes out in more ways than one. |
exactly.. they all make money..
tiesto is a superstar,, he is FAMOUS.. just like ja rule or 50 cent they make million and millions of dollars for records that suck..
not to mention the amounts they get paid to appear on the tonight show or talkshows and then act like they dont even want to be on the show cuz they are too cool..
being FMAOUS.. means you get paid!!! doesnt matter how you are famous. you get paid..
tiesto is VERY FAMOUS in the EDM scene.. he is like leonardo dicaprio of trance.. he commands BIG DOLLARS.. and gets it..
if the tickets are gonna be 40-50 bucks to enter a venue to see him play.. and then the bar is gonna charge 10 bucks for a drink using his name to make the money.. dont you think its fair he gets alot of the profit??
its common scense... thats how it works...
sure when brittany spears gets paid 5 million dollars for a coke commerical we think is she worth it?? of course not!!
but thats the business..
so tiesto and his managers are doing what any company would do..
its all about the green...
being famous pays,.,. we all know this..
I know people who think beckham is a soccer player and doesnt deserve half the money he gets.. he gets it becuase he is FAMOUS!!
fame!! people come to see you.. he sells tshirts..
tiesto sells tickets..
not to mention he makes great records..
is he ? think what you want.. fact is..
he packs out venues alone.. with only his name!!
thats famous!! thats stardom.. thats money
thats getting paid... |

i think it's absolutely disgusting.
i am going to chain myself to my cd player as a demonstration against these vinyl spinning DJ's.
If any of them spin CD's i am going to put an MP3 player on top of my Cd player.
If any of them spin MP3's i am...going...to.....put...some...sheet music on top of my MP3 player. to show em all what real music looks like.
bloody "disc jockeys". not real musicions....*grumbles* :\ |

| IF you think he gets paid too much don't buy his records don't go see him live don't support that type of fee if nobody was seeing him then there wouldn't be anything like this thread. But guess what people are willing to pay that much money because of the feeling that they get from seeing him spin live. To them the feeling is worth 40 pounds a night or whatever it ends up being. If its not worth it to you don't go see him. Please please quit bitching about how much DJ's get paid most of you are just jealous and the rest don't realize that this is a business and while they do care about the music they are in it to make money and to have money when they retire. They wanna live comfortably just like the rest of us. You don't go up to a stockbroker and call him a sellout because he makes good money do you? now why would you do the same about a DJ or a brilliant painter etc. |

And I'm not just having a go at djs - this goes for anyone else who is earning ridiculous amounts of money. |
It's called capitalism, it's the reason we don't work our knuckles off on ty farms while some toff sits in a mansion eating off solid-platinum plates. It's raised the standard of living for millions of people. |

| LMFAO @ this thread!!! Everyone bitches about DJ's getting all this money to spin, well where do you think it comes from?? You think Tiesto walked into the club and said give me X amount of money or I'm burning your club down and raping your children?? Nope, they tried to book him and he threw out a price and voila, they accepted. He knows how much he's worth. The people who are most at fault here are A) The promoters who are willing to pay such an exorbidant amount for a 2 hour set and B) The people who buy the $60 ticket to see the 2 hour set. Sure Tiesto's price is high, but who made it that way?? |

Comfortably!!?? £40,000 for two hours - thats a little more than living comfortably. This applies to all people under this category who have raped the scene to excess and have turned it into a multi-million dollar industry. Why are so many producers now bothered more about making a top 10 hit than making a track they genuinely love and can be proud of? Lets take the Vandit nights and general nights in Europe - people know that if they sell ticket at 30 euros, no one will come so its loads cheaper than it is in the UK or in the US. This is regardless of big named djs etc. It takes the piss out of the music, and the scene when you're having to pay £30 to go and see a few e djs. |

| i wonder how much pvd makes for 6+ hr sets now.. he was making $15 - $20,000 last couple yrs of twilo. he spun from 2am - at least 7am sometimes 8, 9, even 10am.. |

to be fair prices have come down a bit
i remember paying almost 30 quid just for a ticket for PvD 6 hr in may 2003, that was in my clueless days. most nights now are 10-15 quid, its very rare to find more expensive nights. and the likes of fabric will only charge you about 12 quid for example, no matter what the night is (sasha or a random breaks lineup)
so i guess its not too bad |

Guys, you have to see it from the other side!
If you get asked from a club to play there for 40.000 pounds for 2 hours! Do you say then to them, no I make it also for 5.000 pounds or do you just agree!?!?!?!
Also this high amounts of money really only maybe 20 DJs in the world get, all other gets just enough for living!!!! |

Lucy, why were you talking about raping the scene and you did not mention Paul Oakenfold, who easily charges more than that for 2 hrs of work.
Yes Tiesto is a bloated popstar but if people are willing to pay that kind of coin, you might as well accept. |
