| I agree with Lira its nothing new and it doesn't have anything to do with Bush. Globally, people would hate Americans even if we had a different president. |

i think the root of the whole 'anti-american' issue is the world's perceptions of how they see the united states as the denoted 'superpower' of the world..
the united states government tries to intervene in every civil war and country crisis there is .. i am not going to say that is right or wrong doing this .. people may see it as sticking their noses in business they are not supposed to be involved with.. others may see it as the best way to resolve peace.. other than that, you would probably see an american solider or reserve in every third world or war nation..
another issue with the united states is how much they donate money to the poor countries .. when the poor countries feel that they are not getting enough donations from the united states, they start blaming them for its' scarce resources and poor housings, schoolings, and businsesses.. |

| Yeah, several countries hate us for the US involving themselves into other countries problems and situations. But then, if we, say, didnt do ANYTHING, and just sat back home and watched the smaller countries destroy themselves, countries would then bitch about how we DIDNT do anything. Never can everyone be satisfied... |

To me it just really shows the ignorance of the entire world. Thats kind of comforting to know that even after being raised in the 'msot retarded country' I am smart enough to know who actually makes decisions for countries.
Bush would be making the decisions he is making if I am here or not, if my whole family was here or not, if my neighbor and his family were here or not. Bush also would have been elected if aforementined weren't here. America would still be sticking our nose in peoples business if I am here or not. What otehr countries need to come to grips with is that there are smart level headed people everywhere no matter who represents the land they live on.
and I don't get how people can say anti-american setiment is at a high right now....more than 90% of the people on here have only been around for 20 so some odd years.....
eh, sterotypes, arent they great. |

before 4 years ago, as a canadian, I worked to try and differentiate myself from americans. There was little to no ill will towards americans, minus some ideaological differences.
since bush has come into power, that has all changed, with absolute hatred toward most of the administrations policies.
and then to have bush RE ELECTED to continue along this path, is what may provoke my anti americanism. If they think that this is good, I hate to think what it would take for somebody to not get re elected. |

There are people that really dig deep into what the administrations are doing, as deep as possible. They want to become aware of what is going on with any given goverment/administration/etc. Out of these people, some will show some anti-sentiment towards the given administration. Others won't. It happens in every country.
But then you have those groups of people that consider themselves, or other people consider them, anti anything based on minute pieces of information.
But some of you also made the mistake of generalizing by saying a given country shows bad sentiments towards the United States of America. This is not right. You should know that there are people that are not anti-American, whatever that means.
So is this anti-American sentiment a "trend"? I don't know and I don't care. What I do know is that a person should keep himself/herself from cursing whenever a point like this one is brought up. The first post killed any type of positive discussion here. Just my thoughts. :) |
