Well said - if you have seen the threads recently there are a lot of people struggling with percussion at the moment (me included!) and more tutorials likeyours would be soooooo helpful.

Right then...
If I was to make an another perc tips thread... what sort of stuff would you guys want in it? What kind of things do you need help with?
Now, I am not going to do any tutorials/tips on how to make the actual sounds and/or where to get the samples from but I'm more than willing to help with the patterns, breakbeats, how to make your drums sit in the track etc. |

ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!
The one thing i found hard to follow was where your hats etc sit on the piano roll - the pictures on your tutorial were hard to understand - maybe its because I use Cubase though..?
Everyone has given me loads of advice about adjusting pitch etc but dont know how to go about it - thats something I'd like to learn please! :tongue2
In fact... ANY more help you can give would be fantastic!!

It's not that complicated, really. Take this pic for example:
The pattern in question is 2 bars long (just like all the other samples in the tutorial) - from bar 310 to 312 as seen on top of the pic. It's then divided to 1/4th of a bar with the longer lines on the top and even further to 1/16th of a bar with the shorter lines. Very simple :)
I'd imagine all sequencers work more or less the same way.
In any case, I'll see if I can cook up a tutorial within the next couple of weeks. I'm not promising anything seeing how little spare time I have these days but I'll try. |

| I've been drumming a long time now and even if you don't know anything about drumming, it couldn't hurt to pick up a book of the 26 basic drumming rudiments and learning ways to alter them (or I'm sure you could look them all up online). For example, the hi hat pattern playing above is a triple paradiddle, and works well with the closed hat samples he posted. The drumming rudiments apply to sticking (left vs. right hand) as well as rhythm, but in the electronic producing realm, that can be applied to innumerable situations, one of them being mystery's :) |

Mate that wud be awesome, i know loadsa people would be well happy if u put up another tutorial, me especially. ur 1st 1 helped loads. Somethin with some breakz wud be wicked if u cud. :happy2: |

hmm, why the bad vibes? I was not being sarcastic when I said thank you. And if you name something "Part 1" people are going to expect a part two!
But we got some more discussion, and that was to goal!
PS - why would I ask a person to write a tutorial if I could write one myself? |
