Fun night! Good music, good vibe... danced pretty hard all night long, by 7 oclock it felt that my knees were gonna give in. The guv was obviously way too packed, but i managed, around 4ish (maybe?) the place started to clear up a bit, enough space to bust a move! Overall, it was an eventfull night, saw ppl that I was expecting to see at all... It was def worth checkin it out. Go Oakie!:toothless

WHAT A NIGHT!
Mr.Oakenfold's set was by far the most memorable one of his todate in the city of TORONTO , You can always tell if someone enjoys playin' the GUVERNMENT MASSIVE and Oakenfold was indeed the proof of that!
The latest in Trance/Progressive music was played on during the two hours of Oakenfold's performance. The oneTrack that really blew everyone away was The remix of a U2 song done by the "OAK MAN" himself..(Beautiful Day-U2 Paul Oakenfold 2004 mix]

And as always MR. MARK OLIVER put on one HELL of a PERFORMANCE for both opening and closing of this highly anticipated event...

The highlight of the night for me was when Mark Oliver took over the Microphone while still mixin' one last opener track which had turned the clubbers to a frenzy and said

" Hi my name is MARK OLIVER AND I'M THE RESIDENT D.J OF THIS CLUB"
AND THE CROWD CHEERED ON!

TUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

;) :D 7

Actually, I think this was the best set I have ever seen Oakenfold spin. One massive hit after another - it could have been a Tiesto set, really.

Stuck around till they kicked us out. The gang that was there till the end was totally into Mark's set (and he was spinning an incredible set), so the diehards got a 45 minute encore of incredible tunes. Loved what he did to "Time" and "Not Alone".

The crowding thing? It's all about finding your space. Stand next to one of the smaller stages. Stand to the forward part of the club between the speaker stacks. What you want to do at all costs is stand right in the middle where people are constantly crossing between the washrooms and the smoking area. I was just behind the small stage at the front, and it wasn't too bad at all.

Boo #2: SOUND SYSTEM.

I believe there were some technical problems with the sound system during Oakie's set. A little bit in to Oak's set I noticed the mids/low-mids drop out I saw Oakie looking around wondering the same thing.

All night I just wanted louder mids (the melodies in the mid-range didn't stand out enough).

dont worry RJ you are not alone, the past couple of times i have been to guv the sound just hasn't been up to par, i always seem to want more out of it, i hate the way the sound is only good in the center and else where, there is definity slacking in the sound department at the guvernment and i wish they would do something about it.
i know the have a mega increadible sound system already so in that case they should in set it up right, or maybe even upgrade to the one that the docks has.

When walking around in GUV just stay close to walls and stick to the outer part of the club where everyone is coming and going:D
The small stage near the dj booth has some space to move around and below there and in its surrounding area is usually pretty good as well:gsmile:

Everyone was dancing and sweating to the tunes so there wasn't much of that posing crap with barbie dolls running around in stellettos making weak attempts at trying to dance and failing miserably and guys being afraid to mess up their spiked up hair in the mainroom the way it is at some of these top 40 type of clubs:D Some chicks were throwing off their shoes and going nuts on the dance floor so it was fun times at GUVERNMENT last night indeed:happy2:

were you standing on the stage? i was for Liquid Todds set, and the same thing happened, the mids kept cutting in and out.

When i moved down to the floor, everyting was ok, it seemd lke it was only in the booth.

damn i thought you techies would already know the answer to this one........
its when the dj turns off the monitors in the booth, it effects the sound on the stage.

Had a BLAST with all the TA's. Suprised to see you all there. Ryan and I thought we'd be the only ones!

The fun ended when the GUV became an overpacked sardine can/sweat bucket... I've NEVER seen it like that before. A HUGE fight broke out right infront of me and thanks to Ryan I didn't fall on my face from being pushed around. Needless to say the fight killed the mood and we left. I'm really dissapointed...

I was OVERLY impressed with LOL that's why I gave this venue another chance, but for future I will ONLY go when the entire complex is open. More room to breathe!

Ryan, Max, Greg, Spam: had an amazing time dancin' up a storm with all of you!!! THROW THOSE ELBOWS ;) You made my night. Till next time my friends

exactly- if you haven't noticed yet, unless you're ON the dance floor, centrally positioned between the speakers, you got sound fall off. There are no speakers anywhere near the stage- you are dependant on the DJ's in booth monitors for an added boost.
