i heard a couple diff origins for this song
1. written for natashcha, they wern't even going out by then but pvd wrote it to woo his then-to-be future wife
2. some angel statue in germany
anybody know the real deal?

| I guessed it was just a pretty but hollow trance title, like most are. If there are no lyrics, there usually isn't much emotional meaning behind a track name. |

You mean Victoria of the Siegessäule (Victory Column), patron and icon of the Love Parade.
jploveparade made a great thread a while back about Victoria, but search seems to be dead again at the moment.
I can't believe that even here on TA so few recognize the symbolism of For An Angel. But maybe that's just because I'm an obessive nut who has the record sleeve featuring Victoria as his avatar. |

I think For An Angel is probably one of his worst tracks really. I mean, its all over after the first little break. People go mad for that intro, go mad for that melody, then its all just dragging the same stuff out for another 5 minutes. |

saying its his worst track is a bit harsh probably. Theres obviously a lot of passion & intensity in there, like with all his early stuff. But its just not executed in the best way possible I dont think. Not that i'd know how it could be better, but I just know that it could.
On the other hand things like Crush are well executed for what they are, but what they are isnt really a lot. Hollow, shallow wank really. |
