Really? I think people will be there for the event itself, and not so much the DJ's. The DJ is a big part, but I think people enjoy the party more than anything. I'm pretty sure both the DJ's mentioned could bring in a big enough crowd. I mean look at Deep Dish, they suck huge donkey in alot of peoples opinions, yet they seem to be booked for 8 hour sets all the time.:D

Not to mention, if you book a DJ like that, they will cost you less money than the others, and still know how to play for a big crowd of people.

You just said it wasn't a trance party, then what does it matter who is booked in the trance room?

For the record, I think there are alot of people who come from outside of Montreal to see this event, so comparing a booking in a club that holds considerably less people than Palais du Congres, and BEB itself, isn't a very good comparison.

Johan Gielen plays in front of 45,000 people at Trance Energy, and same goes for Rank 1 and their big events. Are you saying they are smaller than your listed DJ's?:conf:

Trance Energy is not Bal en Blanc.
Bal en Blanc is a house party by definition

from the time I saw Rank 1 at Aria, there wasn'T much people attracted by it. Same goes for Johan Gielen...
For clubs and afterhour night... even small raves.. they would do ..
but not for events like Bal en Blanc.

Remember that big events attracts a lot of people who don't know about music. They go there because its big. Seeing someone like Rank 1 on the line up won't attract them more.

Even if I'm a big Trance head...
House and techno always have worked better in Montreal.
You have to think business here ! $$$$
Trance is not completely implented in Montreal yet.

Habsfan, last time johan was here (at Aria) - ummmm, he wasnt good....(close to horrible even)
n i dont like his tastes either.....

So why wouldn't you book some less pricey gigs then for BEB? A&B, Thrillseekers, Matt Hardwick, would all be less money than the likes of PVD, and Armin. If it's house/techno they are going for, who cares which trance DJ's are booked? The people who go to see the trance, are the ones who like it, and know the DJ's. I'm pretty sure you could get a load of people if A&B were booked, and have to spend less on their fees.

( seriously i can't believe that we are all going to have this fight all over again )

There's a reason why they won't book smaller headliner.

Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Oakenfold and to some extend Ferry CAN fill clubs AND rave just by themselves.

Oakenfold did it in 2000 with Oasis
Tiesto did it last week
Pvd has done it so many times in Montreal
Armin has become really big in Montreal
Ferry is on his way to becoming like the other 4

While
Rank-1 isn't known by anybody else than trancehead who would NEVER pay 85 $ just for Rank-1, same thing for thrillseeker, mat Hardwick, Joan Gielien !!

When Oaki, tiesto, pvd, armin and ferry comes into town, anywhere, it's usually a 50$ a ticket night, people are used to paying enormous amount of money to see them, Hence why they will be booked for bigger events

Why is it, that everytime someone disagrees with what you say, it's automatically a fight? It's time to wake up and smell the coffee man. Not everyone is going to agree with what you say, nor are you the God of promotion.

If you stop and think about it for a second, you would actually make some sense. First you're saying it's not a trance event, so why have a trance DJ. Now when I say book a smaller headliner, you're saying not enough people would go. Make up your mind!! Are people going for the trance DJ, or is it not a trance event, and people are going for the other headliners?

If the promotors booked a smaller headliner, like the ones mentioned above, it directly relates to the price of admission. Why do you think the ticket is so high for a Tiesto event, compared to someone like Matt Hardwick or Thrillseekers? It's because PVD and Tiesto charge an arm and a leg for fees, and the others don't. If you booked a smaller headliner, the crowd would still show up, and the ticket price wouldn't have to be so high to break even or make a profit at their event, no matter the turnout. You'd need less people to pay admission to cover the costs of your DJ.

It's pretty simple, I don't know why you're not understanding this. Perhaps you just like to argue or something.

Ok look

Let's give a little example ( AND I'M JUST GIVING EXAMPLE OF FEES THEY ARE NOT THE REAL FEES )

Rank-1, when they came to Aria ... they charged around 3 000 Usd + Flight and they draw ... well not that much let's say between 7-800 ppl

Tiesto, on the other hand, charges 30 000 Usd + Flight and draw ... well 5000 ppl like last week

Let's do some maths now.

Rank 1
800ppl times 25$ = 20 000 $ - 10 000 $ for what the dj costs = 10 000 $

Tiesto
5000ppl Times 55$ = 275 000 $ - 80 000 $ for what the dj costs = 195 000 $

Now tell me which one, in a strictly money related situation, would you book

Also, I've said that BeB is a House Party, and it is, and in the mind of most people it will always be, they book trance dj to get more and more and more and more people into the building. I'm pretty sure, and i'm a house maniac, and i would love to see a complete house line-up for Beb, but it would mean that only 8-9-10 000 ppl would show up ( just like Black 'N blue ) Again, let's give an example ( again, not real numbers, just and example )

And All out house line-up would, and you will agree with me, bring only people that like house ( 2000 ppl ), and those who just go there because it's a big party ( 5 000 ppl ) that means around 7 000 ppl Times 80 $ = 560 000 $

If you put a house/trance/techno/progressive line-up, you will lose some die hard fans of some genre, but will will gain 3 other genre maniacs, so people that like house ( 1000 ) people that like trance ( 1000 ) people that like techno ( 1000 ) people that like progressive ( 1000 ) people that just go there because it's a big party ( 5000 ) that means around 9 000 ppl times 80 $ = 720 000

I think it's Obvious why they would want to diversify their line-up !

Krinker's right...
i never understood this myself before till i actually asked n thought bout it....
smaller headliners will never b able to get a lot of ppl in....
today, if u go down n ask ppl: hey, u know tiesto? answer: yes
if u then ask them: u know Johan Gielen or Rank1 or John 00 Flemming or any other smaller headliner (to mtl cuz outside they're not small am guessin), ur answer would b no...
it kinda shocked me when i heard that Ferry didnt fill Aria when he came here.....
So anyway, as much as it sux, smaller headliners wont b able to spin at BeB cuz organizers would simply not b interested in gettin them cuz they wont get them $$$.

This is actually wrong. I remember at last year's BeB, around 15 friends of mine just went to that event cuz PVD was gonna spin there....lol...
n that's just from me, am sure there were a lot of other ppl like that would were ready to pay that amount of money for just ONE dj....
So, put urself in the organizers' shoes, if u could easily get in another 2000+ ppl n increase ur profit, would u refuse that? dont think so....

U book Rank1 for example, u'd get the 8000+ ppl or wotever......but if u book tiesto, u can easily get that 8000 to 10,000....
