i agree with u here....hearing the songs in the club environment is soooooo much better, the baSS, the lights, the atmosphere, the people dancing and having fun, and you dancing to the beat knowing the rythym of the tune....that's the real LOVE of trance!
hey, ABT, u always come up with something intelligent to say:D!

dude, check what PVD just played at his set in nyc, guess what, same exact tracklist as in toronto... when they go on a tour, they bring a limited number of tracks with them, u cant expect them to have a different set every night of the tour, thats insane!! | PVD hasn't played in NYC since April. I think u mean Miami. |

I just honestly think that TG, if you weren't so critical of the performances and so quick to analyze all of them (and i'm not just saying about this time, i mean in general), that you might enjoy them more. :D :toothless And i love PvD too, but you never seem to criticize ANY of his sets.... and he DOES spin some repeat records! But we don't complain b/c we LOVE the songs! The same should go for Tiesto and Oakenfold.

ABT u've made some valid points. We don't complain b/c PVD is God! I've criticized how Paul always closes w/for an angel everywhere. The difference is when I saw Paul in Boston & Ibiza recently he played for no more for 3 hours but he BANGED out fresh tunes...not anthems from 99. It's great to hear a classic now & then in a 6-8 an hour set. For the record I've never had a bad time at a PVD, Tiesto, even Oakie show. I guess I just have high expectations for world renouned DJ's when coughing up $40 to see em. I have a craving an obession for new tunes. I want to be impressed & blown away. Mauro Picotto in Ibiza was PHENOMENAL! I couldn't trainspot !
I don't regret seeing Tiesto & I don't think it was a waste of $, it was an experience. I had a great time w/my friends. |

I agree with Twilo Girl....I wouldn't say that going to Tiesto was a waste of money but I did think that he could have done a better job. Also if Tiesto is spinning the same records because he is on tour then shouldn't his mixing be pretty good because he knows his tracks really well ? Well the last time I heard Tiesto he had at least a few major train wreaks....I don't remember the last time a PVD did that (although his mayday set was pretty awfull). All I'm saying is that after all the hype that surrounds Tiesto is finally over people will realize that although he is a good DJ and producer there is nothing that special about him. Most of the things that he does today have been done by better DJ's before him.
Let the flaming begin ;) |

TWILOGODDESS!! Thats the nicest, coolest thing i've heard you say! I'm so vaklempt! :) :D :eyes: :toothless
Its good to hear you are having a good time though, thats what counts! You're correct on the anthems, too many is too bad. But it isn't bad to hear one once in awhile. LoL @ "We don't complain b/c PVD is GOD!"
Cheers! :D

Just to give more credit to Tiesto - he played a 5 hour set in Miami last weekend.... (so he's not TOO much like Oakenfold :p :p :D )

Whats the point of going out to clubs except to get laid and listen to pills? :o:rolleyes::D:whip:

Hey TG, you should be glad you're not into rock! What about when a big group like U2 or the Stones or something go on tour, they play the exact same set, same order, same stage effects and light show every night for like 18 months at a time, and no one disses them for it, even their fans that follow them round and see them every single night
Alright it's got to be easier when you're a DJ 'cos at the end of the day you're only playing tunes that other people have recorded, but for the big name DJ's it's all about having your own distinctive sound and style, I don't think it can be as easy as you think. For them to do what you want, and to find a whole new set every other week, actual quality songs, ones that sound a bit different but also suit their DJ style and fit into their set, and also for them to be tracks that no other superstar DJs have already been hammering first so they don't get accused of sounding like someone else, that's a big thing to ask I reckon. For you to expect to get 'impressed & blown away' with new material every time you go to see a big name DJ is totally not realistic, classic tunes like that just don't get released by the dozens every week! I'd rather hear a set of relatively up to date songs that I know are top quality even if I've already heard them. A few classics as well, if there's a few promising new tracks dropped into a set then that's excellent, but I wouldn't wanna hear new material for the sake of new material if it's just filler tracks.
With regard to 'For an Angel', personally if I'm going to go pay loads of cash to see a big name DJ that also writes and produces, like Tiesto, Corsten or PvD, I kind of would be disappointed if they didn't at least play some of their own classic stuff. I don't reckon that life could get much better, than being totally caned off my at a PvD show and hearing him drop 'For an Angel', even if I had heard it once or twice before, you know what I mean? :D |

The point about playing similar tunes on a tour is valid and PvD has done that but for an album that hasnt even been released. It has just been ripped and therefore people know many of the tracks. Tiesto on the other hand is playing mostly tracks from albums released like a yr ago or more. Lost Vaguness, Flesh, Silence and Eugina were on Oakey's Travelling and Another World albums. These albums were released 1 YEAR AGO, hello. Tiesto is playing tunes Oakey released so long ago--it is pathetic. Oakey was closing his set with the PROPHET a long time ago. This is why TIESTO=NEXT OAKENFOLD. PvD is playing new tracks and tracks that have only become popular in the last few weeks or months, not over a yr ago or like 8 months ago. Some are tracks that only he can like Second Sun, Autumn, Reach Me etc..not tunes that every Oakey-wanna be canes. It doesnt help that Tiesto acts like a clown and cares more about being an arrogant showman, a la Oakey. It is great to be pumped up and enthusiastic but he is ridiculous. Take a lesson from Carl Cox, a great dj who shows so much enthusiasm, not so much ego. The point about a dj having a limited amount of time and limited amount of records is a poor excuse. The great dj's have whitel labels and vinyl sent to them. Sasha, Digweed, PvD etc...have stuff sent to them FIRST before it reaches the public. Yet when I listen to a Tiesto set it is like I am listening to his cd's. A live club set should be a unique experience, not duplicable by just listening to a couple of released albums. There is something magical in going to a live set and being wowed by the exhiliration of hearing a track for the first time. It leaves you wanting more and wanting to find out just what that amazing track is. I know everyone has felt this amazing feeling and it is thoroughly exhilirating--THIS CANNOT BE DENIED. Tiesto doesnt allow this buzz and mesmerization, the feeling when hearing that never before heard track. Dj's who do this like Sasha, PvD, Cox, Seaman etc..."please" the crowd even more by blending old faves with new tracks that leave the crowd speechless. These dj's tour just as much and are just as busy as Tiesto. People will realize that Tiesto's sets sound great the first time hearing it live but not the second or third exact replica especially when played like a yr later.
Instead Tiesto lovers should ask why he spins only 2-3 hours of recycled and very old tunes. Dont his fans deserve more? Why even buy new cd's or obtain sets? Just get your favorite Tiesto set and listen to it over and over for years. That is what Tiesto has done here in NYC. It is unacceptable. Dont you want more or will there be excuses for that also? |

| Push01 I have to agree with you 100%.I thinks theres nothing better than going to a club and hearing tunes never heard before at least theres anticipation and exitement of not knowing where the tune is going.I thinks its alright to hear a few anthems in a set but not to the extent where its overdone.I love when Oakenfold finishes on the Prophet its a classic that brings the house down, but there are a lot of classics out there.Of all the tracks in the world, Tiesto has to finish on the same one as Oakenfold.Im not goin to say anymore cos Push01 you've said it all for me!   |
