These albums were released 1 YEAR AGO, hello. Tiesto is playing tunes Oakey released so long ago--it is pathetic. Oakey was closing his set with the PROPHET a long time ago. This is why TIESTO=NEXT OAKENFOLD. PvD is playing new tracks and tracks that have only become popular in the last few weeks or months, not over a yr ago or like 8 months ago. Some are tracks that only he can like Second Sun, Autumn, Reach Me etc..not tunes that every Oakey-wanna be canes. It doesnt help that Tiesto acts like a clown and cares more about being an arrogant showman, a la Oakey. It is great to be pumped up and enthusiastic but he is ridiculous. Take a lesson from Carl Cox, a great dj who shows so much enthusiasm, not so much ego. The point about a dj having a limited amount of time and limited amount of records is a poor excuse. The great dj's have whitel labels and vinyl sent to them. Sasha, Digweed, PvD etc...have stuff sent to them FIRST before it reaches the public. Yet when I listen to a Tiesto set it is like I am listening to his cd's. A live club set should be a unique experience, not duplicable by just listening to a couple of released albums. There is something magical in going to a live set and being wowed by the exhiliration of hearing a track for the first time. It leaves you wanting more and wanting to find out just what that amazing track is. I know everyone has felt this amazing feeling and it is thoroughly exhilirating--THIS CANNOT BE DENIED. Tiesto doesnt allow this buzz and mesmerization, the feeling when hearing that never before heard track. Dj's who do this like Sasha, PvD, Cox, Seaman etc..."please" the crowd even more by blending old faves with new tracks that leave the crowd speechless. These dj's tour just as much and are just as busy as Tiesto. People will realize that Tiesto's sets sound great the first time hearing it live but not the second or third exact replica especially when played like a yr later.
Instead Tiesto lovers should ask why he spins only 2-3 hours of recycled and very old tunes. Dont his fans deserve more? Why even buy new cd's or obtain sets? Just get your favorite Tiesto set and listen to it over and over for years. That is what Tiesto has done here in NYC. It is unacceptable. Dont you want more or will there be excuses for that also? |
exactly man, Tiesto does spin does tunes a LOT :eyes: Tiesto should stick 2 his own style, like I said Tiesto is just downhill 4 me right now  good speech bro, i SECOND DAT! :) |

I agree wit that 100% !!! Tiesto is capable for more, but it seems he is following his press instead of listen to some new tunes. |

First off, this is perhaps one of the most entertaining threads yet!!! You never know what someone is going to say next. Anyway, I just saw Tiesto in Minneapolis and that performance was god awful. Track selection was fine. I'm not to concerned if it is old or new stuff long as they are good tracks. But poor spinning is just frustrating when I'm paying $$ to see someone F#$%-up 10+ times.Go practice at home Tiesto, not on stage.

Alot of you guys are being pathetic...you are all taking Tiesto for granted...What about all those who havent seen him live cus he never comes here...if tiesto played a set here i would go and i really wouldnt give a what he played the experience would be incredible. I personally would love to hear the bes tracks which are the ones hes been playing lately....i dont want to pay money to go listen to some tracks that he just pulled out of his record bag......i mean who the hell are you to judge what tiesto playes in his sets....its his bloody set...if know what to expect then dont go.....its as simple as that
Thats my 2 cents

Hey TG, you should be glad you're not into rock! What about when a big group like U2 or the Stones or something go on tour, they play the exact same set, same order, same stage effects and light show every night for like 18 months at a time, and no one disses them for it, even their fans that follow them round and see them every single night  | My friend has seen the Smashing Pumpkins 27x...he said each time (city) it was a diff experience. They change it up & JAM!
| quote: | | For you to expect to get 'impressed & blown away' with new material every time you go to see a big name DJ is totally not realistic, classic tunes like that just don't get released by the dozens every week! I'd rather hear a set of relatively up to date songs that I know are top quality even if I've already heard them. A few classics as well, if there's a few promising new tracks dropped into a set then that's excellent, but I wouldn't wanna hear new material for the sake of new material if it's just filler tracks. | Obviously I don't want to hear (new) mediocre floor fillers. Are u implying there is no good music being produced...they should just play classics?! Thats absurd. Yes I go out expecting to hear fresh tunes...DJ's have access to acetates, white labels, obscure rare remixes that won't be released for at least 6 months, sometimes never. I want to be entertained, dazzled.
| quote: | | With regard to 'For an Angel', personally if I'm going to go pay loads of cash to see a big name DJ that also writes and produces, like Tiesto, Corsten or PvD, I kind of would be disappointed if they didn't at least play some of their own classic stuff. I don't reckon that life could get much better, than being totally caned off my at a PvD show and hearing him drop 'For an Angel', even if I had heard it once or twice before, you know what I mean? :D | Of course I expect PVD & Tiesto to drop their own material...they are artists. But the past 4x I've seen PVD he's closed w/for an angel. My gripe is he has produced so many other stellar tracks that he could close with ie: how much can u take?, love stimulation, face to face. More ppl would know those tunes if he closed w/them.
Bravo Push! We are on the same fookin page! It's down right insulting to play old played out tunes. Some of you are giving lame excuses "he can't carry so many records on tour or there isn't that much quality trance being made" Since 99?! Thats bull. If thats the case, experiment, pl ay other genres, mix it up a lil bit. Throw in some hot breaks or unleash some fierce techno. A good DJ isn't stale & predictable. |

It's a joke...lighten up ppl. I don't work in a record store. A DJ playing is a performance subject to critique. I go for the music not to eat pills & get laid like some ppl. |

We are not taking Tiesto for granted....after all we are paying $30 to hear him spin so we do have a right to gripe if he is not up to standard. From what i have read ppl are not saying that Tiesto is a DJ, cause he is not...but when he s up more then a few times during his mix and he plays the same tunes that he did on his magik 7 album (which was almost the same as his revolution album) u have to question what Tiesto has been up to.
Let's look at his track record...
He was a great producer and DJ a few years ago...when he worked on tracks under the Kamaya Painters, Hammock Brothers and his other names...now he's a big time producer he wants to work alone and look at the result...His latest album can only be described as disappointing, with the exception of Flight 643 and Urban Train, In my Memory is quite mediocre. I'm not saying that I'm better then Tiesto but I do know that he is capable of doing better.
Now let's look at his sets...I have quite a few of his older sets and I can say that if he was spinning the way he was a few years ago no one would be complaining...now look at his recent sets...most of them are filled with the same tunes that he has on his albums. I don't mind when he drops his own tunes cause ppl expect him to drop those, but when he drops
CJ Bolland - The Prophet
Salt Talk - Eugina
Utah Saints - Lost Vaugness
Shilller - Das Glocknespeill
INSIGMA - open your eyes
i have to think that he hasn't bothered to check out new tunes. I don't mind DJ's playing tunes that they like or tunes that they have on their upcomming CD's like PVD did....but the tunes that Tiesto dropped the last time around are 8 months old...come on...any respectable DJ could have dropped those tunes and ppl would have had a good time. I consider Tiesto a top DJ and as such I want to hear him drop unknown tunes that will make me ask the question "Damn that Tune was awesome !!! What the was that ???!!!" I rememeber DJ's like PVD and Sasha doing that when they spin live...they drop well known tracks that ppl expect them to but along with that they also drop new freash tunes that ppl haven't heard. It's the reason they are top DJ's...they can pick out top tunes that have not been released and play them months in advance. Tiesto seems to have become complacement over the past few months...and It has been showing in his performances. It's all good being a cool guy and working the crowd behind the decks but the most important thing is the music right....Well show us the Music Tiesto !!!
PS. I will go and check out Tiesto again when he comes back to TO in the hope that he will spin a different kinda set...The man has obviously got talent...I just hope he proves it next time around. |

Face 2 Face and Another Way are good tunes but they are not closing tunes....i have heard him drop both tunes in the middle of his sets...
PVD like most DJ's loves to finish with a Bang and those tunes are not the kinda one's he'd use to finish his types of sets.
BTW. I don't mind when he drops For an Angel for an encore...but I love it when he plays encore set instead of just dropping a single tune...
I remember he spun a really short 20 min encore set at Twilo once....If memory serves me correct it was :
Des Mitchell - Welcome to the Dance
Thrillseekers - Synaesthia (PVD Mix) <- Months before it was released
PVD - For an Angel
Now that's a ing encore.....left the crowd drolling for more PVD |
