Age Of Love - Age Of Love was actually the first trance track.
Dance 2 Trance - We Came In Peace is canon as being the first track to be called trance, but the genre wasn't really called trance until this was released on MFS, and by 1995 "trance" had already become an overused word to some. |

Hmm, interesting. Every trance history site say that Dance 2 Trance : We came in peace was the first song. Checking dates shows the truth : age of love released in 1990 march, we came in peace released in 1991. |

The KLF- What Time Is Love? (1988 Pure Trance Original). There were trancy records before, but this is the best place I've found to put an official "first" mark on. Plus it named the whole genre. |
That's an ambient track.
Trance as a genre came about as the spacey/psychedelic side of techno in the early 90's. Eventually enough producers began making this stuff specifically so it became it's own genre but, for a while, it was used merely as an adjective rather than a noun (ie: trancey techno, trancey Belgian beat, etc.). |

The original Age of Love mixes are much closer to New Beat than trance, but the Jam & Spoon mix is most definitely one of the earliest defining trance tracks. |

Thanks, but I dont know, really. Ive never thought there was one, but that it was almost certainly more of a process, a genre that developed over several years. |
